hey guys,

I've been looking for an everyday watch, probably from Omega
My interest in automatic watches are growing fast, and i would like to try an Omega (My Breitling Navi World will be worn every 2~3 days, certainly worn on weekends and special occasions :lingsrock: )

My 2 requirements for this everyday watch is
1. Non chronograph
2. Clear (see through) caseback
3. looks okay on a rubber strap, as this watch will be an "everyday" / "sports" watch.

I know Tag Carrera fits my req quite well, but i want to try to find a model from Omega.

So far, I found that Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra has a see-through caseback, and also has a great design when fitted with a rubber strap. What are some other models that have see through casebacks from Omega? What other models would you recommend ?

Thanks guys

The Railmasters have display backs. I believe they are coming in larger and automatic varieties these days. Not so sure about the "sportiness" of these pieces however.

I'd just like to add that the Planet Ocean is probably your best bet. No DB, but fits the bill for everything else you're looking for. Looks sporty as hell.

Seamaster GMT (the blue one) is the only one that comes to mind which fits your criteria. This one:

Ian's right, Railmasters have display backs, but they would look a bit strange on a rubber strap, and I believe the 42mm model has been discontinued.

Planet Ocean with the black bezel. No display back, but a great piece with a bracelet and 2 different rubber strap options - one a more traditional diver style strap; the other almost a dress style strap with contrast stitching. And it comes in a 42mm or 45mm version.

My vote would be the Railmaster. I have never seen it on rubber strap though. Also no date could be a problem. It is a great looking watch.

:yeahthat Plus the "dressier" of the two PO rubber straps (the one with the stitching) looks really great; the ends fit flush to the case, like endpieces on a bracelet. I've noticed that a number of the sportier watches tend not to have DBs, because it lessens their water resistance rating. Not that most people would need anything near the water resistance of a Planet Ocean, or even a Seamaster, but there seems to be this thought among watch manufacturers that if it's a "sporty" watch, it should be able to withstand pretty good depths. (Navitmer is one exception, although most of them don't come with DBs, either.) This is not a hard, fast rule, but if you want sporty and a DB, you'll be limiting your options.

One last note on the PO - while it is a diving watch, and looks great with everyday, casual wear, it can also be worn with a suit. If you need any reassurance of that, check out Quantum of Solace; the PO 42 on a bracelet was Bond's watch throughout the entire film. (Side note: a PO 45.5 on rubber strap was Bond's watch in Casino Royale up until he got on the train to Montenegro, where he switched to the blue Seamaster. Yes, I'm a Bond geek, and if that's wrong, I don't want to be right.)

By the way, I was just looking at a few Aqua Terras yesterday. They are very nice watches, and have a very good movement in them - higher end than the PO. Honestly, while they are part of the Seamaster line, they strike me as slightly more dressy, and less sporty. That's a subjective matter, as I'm sure some people would consider them on the sporty side. But if you see one in person, you might see what I mean. I'm also a little dubious as to how they would look on a rubber strap. They don't appear to come that way from Omega, so I'm not sure you could find an OEM strap for it, unless the PO straps fit the AT.
