I know there are lots of pilots and aviation enthusiasts on this site so I thought this might be interesting. One of my favorite movies is Flight of the Phoenix (the original, with Jimmy Stewart) where a group of people reconstruct an airworthy plane using parts from a crashed C-82. I was actually doing a search on Hardy Kruger, the actor who portrayed the model designer in the film, because I thought I remembered him wearing a Navi in another film. Anyway, didn't make a determination as far as to what he was wearing in this film but did find some info I was unaware of. I never realized that the plane used in the film was a movie prop designed and flown with the approval of the FAA and was involved in a fatal accident on the set killing the pilot.

I found some You tube footage here:

Wiki info here:

Just thought it was interesting especially if you, like me, are a fan of the film.

I hadn't heard of that.

The crash site from the link you posted looks horrible.

Sad about the loss of the three people on board.

Looking at the NTSB website the accident is still under investigation as to the cause.

Thanks for posting this akguppy.
