Hi All

I aquired a Grand Premier late last year, and while it came in what looks like authentic Breitling boxes, I suspect that this is not the original box set. I am trying to build the "full set" for this watch, and with a bit of research I have managed to obtain a manual and a couple of other bits; but what I would really like to know is what boxes did this watch originally come in.

If anyone has a Grand Premier that they bought from new or knows that their set is completely original, could they please let me know what boxes it came with (and perhaps other things, such as the correct swing tag, etc).

Many thanks

Harry

OK, I have posted three pics. The first is the same as the box I currently have; the second is the same as the box that came with a Premier I own, which was manufactured in 1998 and 1999, so it is most likely that this box would be the one that the Grand Premier originally came with in 1999; and the third is a box that I have sometimes seen in previous sales of the Grand Premier in forums and on ebay.

Hope someone can help!

First set is too recent for GP.
Second set should be right time for it.
Third set is one that ordinary Premier came in, maybe some GPs came in it also.

Thanks for the information BN. If that's the case, however, does that mean my Premier (I also have this watch) came in the wrong box too; because it came in the second set (my second set of photos, not Alan's), not the third. I have read somewhere that the third box set was used for Special Series watches. Do you know if this was exclusively used this way? I also have a Breitling Fighters from early 2001 which is a Serie Speciale, and it also came in the second set, not the third: perhaps all of my watch boxes are mixed up.

Alan M, that is an impressive set of boxes :wowzers ; could you tell me what years the boxes in the second, third and fourth photos are from?

I think that ordinary Premier could came with both box sets, earlier with third set and later with second set.
Fighters should came with second set.
Third set is ordinary (not for Special series which all came in ordinary boxes) box set prior to second one.

The third set (mottled) was at the time for Limited Editions, so could be correct for your watch.

Without detailed info I think that would be the correct box for your watch.

Thanks Alan; actually I don't think the Grand Premier was a Limited Edition or a Serie Speciale, unlike the Premier which was the latter - the Grand Premier was only made for one year, reportedly because it was not very popular. However, I have also been advised that the mottled box may have been used for ordinary (not that there is anything ordinary about Breitling watches) Breitling watches, as well as special ones. Can you say what years your pictured boxes were issued?

Are there any Grand Premier owners who have a view on this question?

Didn't know that.
It came with my Colt Auto A17035.
It probably came with both, LE and non LE.

Yes, I got the link. I have seen that before as part of my research. In fact, I have been thinking about putting together a pictorial post to better illustrate what Ron was saying, as it is a bit difficult to follow as a text only post.

For those watching from the sidelines, it is a link to a post on WUS about what boxes Breitling supposedly issued by year.

If you get a chance that would be great. I know there have been lots of questions in the past concerning which box goes with what year/watch etc.
