I have no problem spending $500~ on a multiple unit winder to wind multiple multi thousand dollar watches. Kinda goes hand in hand for me.

That being said, I have more money in watches than my car is worth atm.

For me, the main reason for keeping an automatic on a winder is so that it won't stop and need to be reset when I'm in a hurry and just want to get out the door. I paid $300 for a single Orbita winder, but a good portion of the cost went to the case, which is gorgeously finished. The basic winder, using the same motor but sans the deluxe case, did not cost nearly as much. I don't remember the exact cost, but I don't think it was more than $100 or $150. Orbita winders are very gentle and do the job well.

Thanks folks for the constructive feedback and discussion. I will explore further some of the suggestions that were brought forward. Garmin, Ebay, and some deals available with Orbita.

I'll keep you guys posted on the progress.

Cheers,
Alex

Anyone ever use one of those Bergeon winders with no case? I notice them cheap on the bay. No wood, no polish, no glass but maybe do the job???

The ones on the bay are likely fake. Genuine Bergeon ones start at over $600 for the six watch units and go up to about $2,700.

They aren't designed to be consumer winders, more testers for watchmakers and can't be adjusted for direction or duration / rest periods.

I purchased a single winder from Bombay in Canada but I think they have stores elsewhere. http://www.bombay.ca/product.php?productid=16658&cat=0&page=1

Winder rotates clockwise, or both directions or can be turned off. Motor will turn for one hour; rest for three hours and begin process again. Have had it for a year and so far it has worked great. Very quiet. Serves as an attractive watch case if nothing else. Probably made in China so cannot say how long it will last. Retails for 149.00 but three of four times a year it can be purchased for half price. I paid $79.00 CDN for mine. So even if you have to replace it every few years, it is still a pretty good deal.

Anyone have any expereince with these winders or similiar from the same company (Belocia)? http://www.belocia.com/ProductInfo.aspx ... =BEL-324RW

The description says: Adjustable TPD range from 650 to 1000, with intermediate rest cycle to minimize potential stress to the watch movement. Rotates clockwise, counter-clockwise or alternate. Automatic timer will turn itself on the next day at the same time. No human intervention needed.

By this I assume it turns a while, rests and turns again, etc. Once it hits the set TPD it shuts off until the next day. Does this sound right? Will it give my watches the rest interval they need?

I'm one of those guys that wants a cheaper winder that does the job without hurting my watches. The less I spend on the winder, the more I can spend on more watches....
