What do you guys think is a good # of watches to have in your rotation to be able to appreciate them all. Ive had as many as 12 at one time, I'm down to 8. I decreased my quantity of watches but increased the quality which I'm really happy about but I still feel that 8 is too many.

I own four, but only have three I actually wear. I may get on a kick and wear one two or three times a week, sometimes I wear a different one each day of the week.

I think 2 or 3 nice auto watches are the perfect collection, and no collection is complete w/o a Casio G Shock.

I think 4 is a good number too especially for me who works usually 6 days a week so nights and Sundays is the only time the 'lads' come out!

I think there is no limit if you are an avid collector. If money is not an object, then collect as many watches as you'd like! When I went to Cellini Jewelers in NYC, the store clerk told me about a gentleman that had come in prior to my visit that had a collection of over 300 watches! That's what happens when your'e successful on Wall Street.

As much as I want to have a massive collection of watches, I just want to REALLY enjoy what I have. I've found that the more watches I own, the less I get to enjoy them since I wear them so infrequently.

I've been wearing my GMT, JLC, and PAM more than any of my watches and I've really connected with them; more so than any other watches that I have ever owned. I have always been a PAM hater, I was never a fan of JLC, and I thought Rolex were for posers; now they're my favorites. This watch game is wacky!!!!

I have two now. I couldn't see myself getting more than about six, at least not any that I'd wear with any frequency.

EDIT: And my future six-watch collection will remain incomplete, as I never intend to get a G-Shock.

I'm pretty happy with 3. The Milgauss works good in dressier situations, the Breitling is a great dress/casual watch, and my new Aqautimer is a great sport watch.

I reckon that this is up to each persons own discretion as to how many they think is right for their own collection and the reasons they collect watches in the first place. The term "Watch Collection" in itself implies that one is collecting watch pieces rather than actually wearing all of them on a regular basis. Granted though, I want to wear all of the watches in my collection on a regular basis so as to not only justify the purpose of having them, but to also derive enjoyment from wearing each of them.

There are so many beautiful, unique, and cool watches available on today's market, it's really hard to put a fixed number on my own personal limit. I am inclined to try and fill up each of the 10 slots available in my watch box with high quality and high end (at least to me) watches. I guess it's a good thing my box only has 10 slots, because I imagine if it had more I would go until I filled them all up. I try to rotate the wrist time on a daily basis for each piece however; which piece I wear is contingent on what the day ahead may present. If it's a day of working in the yard digging and planting or other physically demanding labor where I could risk scratching up one of my show case pieces, then I will don my Breitling Colt. With the brushed finish, quartz movement, lower value, I do not worry about possible damage as I would with one of my higher end pieces and I still get to wear one of my favorite brands in the process. He's proven himself in holding up to the rigors of theses types of activities and managed to come out unscathed.

I've had as many as 30 watches and I found that was really unmanageable in allowing for proper wrist time for each. I think I will be able to divvy up the time for 10 much easier, while still having a good variety of quality watches to enjoy wearing. I also look at it from the stand point of something I can pass on to my son upon my demise so that he can get enjoyment out of wearing them and as something he will cherish as heirlooms.

Each persons reason for collecting is of a personal nature and possibly in most cases with many of us here it's also an addiction. Whether a person collects for investment reasons, to provide future heirlooms for their family, to have a comprehensive collection of watches spanning the time from the advent of the watch to present day, or simply for the enjoyment and prestige of owning quality pieces can and will predicate the number of watches within their collection.

All I know is that is I am enjoying collecting and wearing the pieces I have thus far acquired, as well as I am learning much from many of you here as I read your posts and that too brings me enjoyment beyond measure. It's a real pleasure to have a place to go where folks of like minds can learn, network, and exchange ideas in a common interest which many "Outsiders" do not understand or would consider mainstream.

I don't know if I have a number. I think if its the right piece, I'll add it, if it's not, I won't.
Unlike Roff, mine do come and go though! I like to try new things and get a feel for whats what.. maybe in the future, I will settle down and buy to keep permanently.
