I take everyone's comments seriously, and though I was offended by some of the remarks, they are true to some degree.

I live in an area where crime is not high and it really is the least of my worries. My mentality has already changed within these past couple days this thread has been up. The idea of earning 20k before getting a 10k watch is brilliant. Really though, it should be a "double or nothing" kind of situation. If I want a 1k watch, I'll earn 2k. and so on. It would give me both satisfactions of hard earned rewards and being able to pocket the rest of the money. To be honest, this was my idea from day one, I wanted to earn 3 times the amount of the watch, 1/3 towards the watch purchase, 1/3 saved and 1/3 invested. However, that has obviously changed! I am only 16 and that's why it makes this case difficult because this is a time when I have no worries of being fed or housed, I can spend all the money I earn, and unless I'm making 10s of thousands, it's really not going to make such a huge impact in my life down the road monetarily (the lessons I learn would be much more valuable). I'm starting to go back to that 3:1 zone, so to speak, and I'm glad you guys knocked that back into me.

However badly I'd want a 10k watch, or an upper high-end watch in general, it's not practical in the reasons stated by everyone and that it'd be that much harder to get that second watch. If my standards are already set so high that I would need to spend OVER 10k to be satisfied, then maybe starting so high isn't such a good idea. There are good watches that are available for well under 5k (especially if I go with a used watch) and if worse comes to worse, I'll just continue my interest in watches without purchasing one if I am really not "feeling it" with any watches under my budget. I guess there really isn't a need to rush things, I am just 16 and have a long, hopefully, life ahead of me.

Thanks for all the "points of wisdom." I have found what I was looking for but feel free to continue the conversation as it is actually much more interesting than I would've imagined.

That's pretty shallow; making fun of others for your own personal enjoyment is pathetic. Who are you to tell him that a tag will FIT HIM??

When I was about 17 I got a TAG from my uncle and I thought I was on top of the world... and the OP is thinking of a 10k watch...

OBVIOUSLY EVERYONE HAS STRONG OPINIONS ABOUT THIS, AND EVERY AGE DEMOGRAPHIC WILL HAVE AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT OPINION. YET 16 YEAR OLDS ON THIS FORUM MAY BE GUNG HO ABOUT IT BECAUSE THEY DON'T SEE WHAT CAN GO WRONG LIKE OTHERS HAVE BECAUSE THEY DONT HAVE ANY LIFE LESSONS UNDER THERE BELT.

AT THE END OF THE DAY KID, DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY BECAUSE WHAT I HAVE LEARNED....THERE IS NO PRICE FOR HAPPINESS.

He asked for opinions and he got. Since this entire forum is based upon peoples opinions well, what does that mean then? PS. Many opinions from what others have said matched up with mine rather well. Yet, you point me out? Riiiiiiiiight. I can honestly say, even though I may be young(25) I am definitely qualified to answer this question since I have been in a similar situation and have learn from mistakes. I have never voiced my opinion about YOUR opinions so please don't point me out about mine.
