Totally agree with you on all points, Altair. I've never liked the Yacht Club either.

I'd go for the 7 Day Portuguese over that particular JLC if it was my cash.

I sooooo wanted to love the YC. Tried different strap looks and deluded myself into liking it. Yesterday I dumped it at the AD and walked away with the JLC Master Compessor Chrono 2. No regrets there. And the AD was accomodating enough to make the transaction fair. Then agai I got a Breguet, IWC, and Pam in about a month, so they darn well should accomodate.

As Sergio knows and others have said here - the YC has no definable personality. It's somewhat sporty, but not sporty. It's somewhat dressy/blingy, but not so. It really jumped out at me when I first saw it. By yesterday morning I knew it had to go. IWC should remain it Sybill. :nana:

Yes, get the friggin' 7 Day. It's iconic. It's beautiful. It's a nice size. It stands out without being showy. It's the bomb!

The JLC is nice, but if the decision comes down a moon phase - buy a $500 telescope and get something you will really like. :poke:

Spoken by the man who has a Zenith moon phase and an Olympus!! Where's you telescope Galileo??

I so wanted to fall for the Yacht Club but I couldn't. It didn't look good with a suit...and it didn't look good with jeans..it's a strange cat.

Let's put it this way - today I met a guy at Starbucks for whom I did a private title loan for coffee and swaping dinero for a title. We chatted a while and I caught him checking out the JLC several times. I wore the YC four days straight on a trip back east and no one seemed to even look at it.

OK I'll admit it's a better story if the dude at Starbucks was a chick.

And not a business transaction.

(Private to Marie - Breilting's still # 1 with me - 8 Lings!! Looking forward to meeting at Reno next year)

How about the JLC Extreme Alarm instead of the other two pieces.

Absolutely see it in perosn first - I saw it Friday and it is very "bright." FWIW.

I believe the word you used was "garish".

Very nice but I'm not sure it fits your "dress watch" criteria.

The JLC Extreme World Alarm is a fantastic watch. I personally wouldn't call it garish at all, but it depends what you're after I guess.

How about this as a "dress watch"? It also comes in gold and different color dials.

That's the problem, I don't know what the heck I'm after. I have a good mix of dress and sporty watches so I could go either way. The JLC EA gives me something I've always wanted, an alarm...and it is certainly loaded with complications which I love.

When it comes to dress watches I'll always reach for my XXI and JLC MCC and even the GMT before reaching for the 7 Day.

Nah...Definitely not my style...I'm not into classy plain dial watches. They're kinda boring.

JLC alarms sound very nice, so if you want a mechanical alarm I'd definitely recommend that over something like a Panerai alarm.

That EA is

Somebody here (Altair?) has one and posted a video of the alarm a while back. Very cool. Sounds great too.

I have a JLC MC Memovox alarm. Classy, not too dressy, not too sporty. And the alarm sounds great.

That said, I'm contemplating either a JLC Extreme World Chrono or MC Diving Chrono.
