Can you mount the standard clasp off a Pro II bracelet on the rubber portions of an Ocean Racer strap? Been trying to swap my Pro II (ref. 812) for an Ocean Racer, and it's clearly not going to happen... If the clasp is transferable, I'll just spring for the $65 OR rubber bit, and keep the bracelet on ice...

I think the search function of the forum will help

No, you can't.

Nothing concrete in any threads found through a search, hence the post.

Gotta be honest, I'm really failing to see a reason why it shouldn't work. The clasp attaches the same way, via small spring bars through holes in the side of the bracelet- the Ocean Racer strap features these same holes.

The only small difficulty appears to be the spring bar on the smaller side of the clasp, the portion with the Breitling logo on it... While the other side attaches via standard diameter spring bar through the entire width of the bracelet, the logo side attaches only through the center link of the bracelet, and therefore utilizes a springbar that is "chunky" or a wider diameter on either side of that middle link. However, it appears to attach into the clasp at the standard diameter, ie. it narrows to the regular spring bar size at the clasp.

So it seems to me a spare standard clasp spring bar could be substituted, and it could then work on the Ocean Racer...

Anybody with any practical experience with this specific issue want to weigh in?

I have both in front of me right now and it looks like it may actually work. It might look weird though since the ocean racer buckle overlaps the rubber nicely to cover the spring bar connection.
