About four months ago I bought a 2007 AS. Fantastic. Beautiful to look at and it kept brilliant time: +1 sec per day for the next three months (i even felt a little smug reading other people's posts). But so often when you bring a new child into the house... a month ago i bought a 2009 Steelfish.

I have to confess, I have been neglecting the Skyland a little; I've only been wearing it once or twice a week. But i have been hand winding it every day! I only let it stop once... honest! We may not have had quantity time, but its been quality time!

But now the Skyland is starting to misbehave. Its acting out. Its gaining a minute a day. It never behaved like this before its little brother came along! Is this attention seeking behaviour? Is it punishing me?

I've sat them down together and talked. I've explained that they're both Breitlings. They're even Aeromarine brothers. There is no need for this jealousy. My heart has enough love for both of them! I'm worried that I'm going to wake up one of these mornings to find a little trail of cogs and hands and the new Steelfish in a puddle of its own lubricant.

I realise that I may need to send the AS off to the Breitling reform school.

Now to the serious question...

Have any of you found that when you move an automatic watch from being your daily wearer to being hand or machine wound that it begins to play up?

A distraught father.

Yeah. I tried explaining that when I'm gone they'll only have each other. That didn't seem to work.

Give them up for adoption and save yourself the trouble. I will offer them an excellent "Life home" and promise they will never be left to run to a stop again! I will give them thier own little spots with whatever amount and direction of attention they deserve.

Do the right thing, you know you should!
