I have just been to the AD here in Singapore to ask for a quote to replace my D23322's steel crown and pushers with gold ones. I was told in no uncertain terms that the do not perform such functions.
Is that the case everywhere? If so why? Surely I can have what I want? The girl actaully said the engineer said 'If you want gold, buy a gold watch'.
Why is this?

Because D23322 doesn't come with gold crown and pushers.

Breitling are very big on keeping things original - you would get the same answer anywhere in the world (though hopefully more politely).

:yeahthat Breitling have always been that way about customisations away from what is available as standard.

In actual fact Breitling's desire to "keep things standard" seems to extend futher than just parts that don't come on a specific model. My friend who has a B01 recently called BUK enquiring about having the polished bezel changed to a brushed version, and was told that they wouldn't do it.

This actually really surprised me when he told me because the B01 is available with both brushed and polished bezels and swapping polished for brushed isn't going to change the model number or anything. It'd still be AB01*** etc. Apparently they were adamant that if you want a brushed bezel you need to buy a B01 with a brushed bezel in the first place.

And it's all the more odd that firstly, BUK are usually very helpful, and secondly, BUSA are (apparently) performing these bezel changes with no problems at all.

Thanks for the comments. Breitling Singapaore were less than helpful as I said. It was Breitling and not an authorised dealer as I first said. This kind of policy only encourages people to go to a watch specialist who will do this kind of work.
They will allow me to customise the strap by changing my brown croc to a 2 Tone at a cost of S$5000+ (US$4K). See my first ever post!
Thanks again.

Just bear in mind that if you have it customised by an independent then the parts will likely not be Breitling as they don't sell outside the 'family', and more importantly, Breitling will either refuse to service the watch or will return it to original condition (at your cost) during servicing.
