Many thanks for all your help everyone im thinking that my first thought of brushed may be right, the hunt is now on to get them side by side.

Sorry and I hope people dont mind but could I pick someones brains. I am really scared of buying a fake or having the wool pulled over my eyes.

On the rear of the watch I have seen a few like below, however I have looked at a used one and the rear of the watch is different, it is supposed to be a 2010 watch but it has the breitling logo in the middle with Blackbird written around the edge with something like manufacture speciale, sorry for the vague explanation.

If anyone could shed any light on this, I would be very grateful.

That's the caseback for the brushed version, the polished version has the standard Chronomat caseback.

exactly... and this 'special caseback on the brushed model' helps also to understand what Breitiling 'think, see' how the real Blackbird has to be: all brushed... know what i mean guys?

I prefer the polished, that's what I own and to me it's still a Blackbird. I couldn't care less about the plane that it was modeled after, hell if they called the polished one by a different name I'd still prefer it. I put mine in a brown calf strap for when I don't want it to stand out too much.

I have have a brushed BB and when I seen the polished released I thought maybe it would have been a better choice, but now I KNOW brushed is much better for this watch. For me anyway.

Just don't buy the one you posted the pic of! :D

I have slept on it and still think that I have made the right choice, I have also found a Jewellers about an hour away from me that is advertising it as new unworn with around £1200 off so think that I will be making the trip at the weekend. As soon as I get it I will post some pictures.

Also, the first picture was just from images to show the watch, but could I ask how on earth you guys can tell from first glance. As to me I thought that looked ok. (can you see why I came here first ha ha)

The markings on the sub-dials look a bit off and the "B" on the seconds hand doesn't look as defined as it is on a genuine Blackbird. I'm sure there are other things but that's what I noticed.

I checked out their website and what deals!!! Tourbillons, lots of them, for under $300. Why it almost seems too good to be true.
