My opinion of Breitling has reached a new low

Since I was not prepared to pay £700 to get my watch face realigned by Breitling I asked for it to be returned

Got it back toady and watch face, which was only slightl misaligned, is now rotated 270 degrees and the hinges of its box are broken

Trust them to fix a watch when they cant even keep a box in one piece?
You must be kidding

The dial has probably rotated further because it sounds like the dial has come loose from the movement - so if you asked them not to fix it then it will continue to move around and rotate more. As far as the box goes, well Breitling recommend that you don't send the original box in to them as damage can occur in transit as Bakelite is quite a brittle material.

Unfortunately running an expensive watch is a little like running an expensive car - once the warranty runs out, you can be liable for big bills. The sad thing is, like any prestige mechanical thing, you can't run them on a shoestring. I feel your pain with the cost, but if you are prepared to pay for it, BUK do a superb job.

Nice try (you should be a politician)
Now my spin

"The dial has probably rotated further because it sounds like the dial has come loose from the movement - so if you asked them not to fix it then it will continue to move around and rotate more."
The watch was obviosly thrown back together when I refused to pay the exorbitant fee to fix a faultly design (is it normal for a watch face to become lose when subject to normal daily wear? A question, incidently I have ask Breitling UK but am still awaiting a reply

"Unfortunately running an expensive watch is a little like running an expensive car"
I am quite prepared to pay for a refurb

I have Panerai and Tag watches and neither have never given any problems

"like any prestige mechanical thing"
********
comment removed , maybe I was a bit over the top

I'm now sticking to quality brand originals and Breitling replicas (which are much better made anyway)

ps
Breitling did NOT recommend not using the original box

Well you're obviously irritated by the situation, and understandably so : £700 is a lot of money. Rubbishing the entire brand is a common response when people have issues with an item.

That said I totally agree this shouldn't have happened, but unfortunately you've just been very unlucky in this case. I can assure you it's not a design fault as this is the first time I've ever heard of this type of issue in almost 15 years of being into watches. As I say, I think you have been very unlucky - no consolation, I know.

If you don't want Breitling to fix this for you, you could always try an independent watchmaker. They may be able to assist you, but you obviously won't get the Breitling Warranty if you go the non-Breitling route.

On the box front, whenever I've spoken to Breitling about sending a watch in they always recommend just packing it in bubble wrap. They've always explicitly said not to send in the Bakelite box. I guess no-one mentioned that to you when you spoke to them.

Hmm ............not wanting to be picky but the twelfth post on this thread.........(Polenzo)

The blue dial on my Headwind became loose and started spinning round in the case last year - Was told by an AD in Nottingham (Berry's) I'd need a new dial and the obligatory full service - a total of £420.00 which I was obviously over the moon about !!!!.....considering it was less than 4 yrs old and not an everyday "Beater" so to speak.

seems like two of us have been 'unlucky' with this quality product

My apologies - I'd forgotten about that post from 18 months ago.

I hope you find a satisfactory solution.

No need to to appologise

I respect your opinion and (I hope) my frustration and annoyance has remained soley toward Breitling and not your good self

Thank you for your best wishes but unfortunately unless Breitling bother to reply to my recent letter (which I doubt) I fear the Headwind will just sit in a drawer gathering dust

I know for a fact that BUK do read this board in fact I have spoken to them a few times about threads on here, They are not allowed to respond though as the company forbids that.

May I suggest you write a letter explaining your frustration and in the meantime respectfully suggest that you refrain from airing negative views about the company until that is resolved as I fear your comments on here may harm your case, Breitlings service is among the best in the world. I have owned in access of 30 Breitling watches in the last 15 years and have always had any problems resolved quickly and efficiently and feel that if you communicate in a positive way with the service dept that they will respond in a more positive way to you.

I know a few people at BUK and would be happy to pass on details should you require it.I also know of a quality watchmaker that is used to dealing with Breitlings that would happily take on any work that you need doing to your watch for a LOT less than BUK would charge for example a full service and clean with 1 years warranty, including reseal and regulation was just completed on my Superocean for less than £100.

Please feel free to contact me should you require any help with anything.
