I do also think that the avenger is to blingy with the SS bracelet, but with a leather darkbrown strap and thubgsten grey dial it looks stunning .

Sorry, I am bit late on giving feedback on this thread. your "4508" indication sounds bit strange. Where did you buy your watch? Did you purchase your watch from one of the Brietling authorized dealers? I live in Geneva, Switzerland and bought my new Avenger 2010 model ( with mirrored numbers and "swiss made" mark on 6 o'clock). There are only 4 authorized dealers in Geneva and the most of them are still having Avenger Skyland on display. I have to order mine (new Avenger) from the Brietling factory. It took only two days to get. Often, anywhere else, especially in foreign countries, such as US and Japan, many Brietling watches are sold with heavy discount at stores or internet. But often they are parallel goods aka "gray goods". If you bought your watch from an authorized dealer, then it is truly a rare item. But if it did not come from an authorized dealer, then there is a chance that it is a gray good.... this is what I was told at the authorized store in Geneva where I bought my Avenger.

The newer style Avengers are readily available in the US. It is not rare to walk into an AD over here and see the newer style in a display case.

As far as the numbers he mentions...my guess is that they are the numbers between the lugs at 6 o'clock that represent the date the watch was made. "4508" meaning the 45 week of 2008.

That's correct.
I bought it in December 2009 on an AD, 4508 between the lugs, silver numbers, silver hands. And as far as I know in 2008 or 2009 they where selling with the name "Skyland" and not avenger. Breitling changed the name to avenger in 2010.
