Being too matchy is just as bad as not matching at all. The truth is that black and brown go with pretty much anything.

I'm more concerned with matching watches with the occasion. I hate to see a super-sporty looking watch with a suit or tux. You wouldn't wear sneakers with that suit, would you?! Then why are you wearing an orange PO on a rubber strap?

I wore sneakers with a tux, 25 years ago when i was in high school! :cheer:

I hear you but, I'm not talking about brown pants shirt belt and shoes. I'm talking mainly about matching as in coordination and more specifically accessories. IMO, accessories (belt, watch, sunglasses , or even jewelry) should all match/coordinate closely, and that includes watch faces. That's not tacky at all, i'd say its actually the exact opposite.

That's one of the main reasons i'm still reluctant towards buying the yellow emergency. It doesn't match well with everything, it does match VERY well with the stripes on my pilot uniform though.

Headhunter has got it spot on there, accessories are meant match and highlight what you are wearing. As for trying too hard being tacky... well, thats a load of crap! If you feel that you look good, who the hell is anybody to tell you that you dont.

And just my opinion, but black and brown dont and never will match. Sorry to all you Panarai lovers out there! :nana:

Sorry but I've never understood the whole matching your watch strap to your belt and shoes thing. Does that mean you need a blue belt or blue shoes if you own a watch with a blue strap?

And what happens if you wear a watch with a bracelet? Do you need a pair of boots from a suit of armour to go with it? :wink: :poke:

I like to think that at 6'3" there's enough distance between my wrist and feet for people not be that interested in whether they're the exact same colour. Either that or maybe I walk around like a walking rainbow or something and don't realise! :lol:

Blue strap = black belt and shoes
Bracelet = anything

Maybe I'm weird, but I can't wear a brown strap on a watch with black shoes and belt, the same goes the other way. I'm sure no one else cares, but it drives me nuts. The same way I can't wear a black belt with brown shoes, just looks tacky.

Exactly. The appropriateness of the watch is more important than the color or strap.

That being said....in a perfect world I would have a brown and black for every occasion and use SS and rubber on the weekends.
