Watch stopped at 8:30 pm tonight, its 9:30pm now. why did it stop you ask? because i havent worn it in about 40-45 hours. Obviously the reserve has run out.

question:
can i set the time between 8 pm and 3 am IF I am moving the time forward an hour to catch up?

There's no such thing as a dumb question!!! But that's as close to it as you can get :poke:

You can set the TIME at anytime but be careful when setting the DATE between certain hours. Refer to your user manual to be certain.

You can set the time at anytime....but you cannot change the DATE (on some watches) between 8pm and 3am...check your user manual for exact info on the date changing specifics.

More specifically, you can set the time FORWARD at any time. Do not touch the date or wind the time backward during the 8-3 window.

Absolutely correct.

You most definitely cannot set the time at any time, you can only set forward at any time as RJRJRJ says. A very important distinction.

Who sets their time backwards??? I never knew people set their time in reverse...that makes no sense to me. I didnt think it was ever ok to do that.

The OP wanted to move forward to catch up.

Clocks go back in a few weeks - I'm guessing then that most people will want to set time backwards and if they read here that it's OK to set the time at any time then they may make an expensive mistake.

Good info....I always thought moving the hands backwards could damage the watch at anytime. I thought it was common knowledge to only move the hands forward....my bad.

Even when the clocks go back....I move the time forward and then reset the date. I don't like moving time backwards....unless I'm in my delorean.

Not in a Breitling.

It's a problem for super high complication watches, particularly repeaters, but not 'normal' pieces.

Because in that window the date change mechanism is partially engaged and if you use the quick set date then you run the significant chance of bending or stripping teeth from the date change wheel.

HOLY CRAP MAN!....yeah, I would say that is definatly a bad idea....
So, A Recap.

Its ok to move Time Forward, anytime.
Its ok to move Date forward or backward, but NOT between 8pm -3am
Its NOT ok to move time Backwards, its always better to just keep turning clockwise to get to correct time.
are all 3 assumptions correct?

Good luck moving the date backwards - it only goes forwards

There is no problem moving time backwards, but not between 8pm and 3am.
