A little bird told me that a Breitling Blackbird using some form of in-house movement (presumably some variation of the B01) is slated to be released in 2011. Anyone hear anything about this?

Looks like a must-have watch to me :wowzers

That would be amazing! I guess it was bound to come. Likely a case like the Chronomat B01 or the Galactic Chrono. Not a bad thing at all, but I really do like the Blackbird in it's present form.
I hope they keep the big date on it.
The Blackbird has really been the only Breitling model, that has tempted me to stray from the Aeromarine line.
I am guessing a price of probably around 8 grand or over.
Cheers,
Carl

dont meant to jack this thread but i might as well ask this here instead of starting a while new one for a single response.

Any ideas on when this movement is going to be pushed in the B4B line?

It's great to see that Breitling is serious about releasing their in house movement into more of their line up. I hope this is going to be a permanent change to the BB, not just a LE version of it. I hope there aren't any changes to the exterior of it...unless they want to throw a display back on that puppy.

Wow, this could be GREAT news!

Two things though - firstly I hope it's not too similar in looks to the Chronomat B01 LE (as I've ordered one!) and secondly, I hope they stick a big date complication (or something else) on it to distinguish it from the Chronomat B01.

If it's done right, this could be awesome piece.

I hadn't heard that specific piece, but I have heard that in house models are going to "expand significantly in hte next 12 months". I assume that must mean some additional complications - we know that the B01 is designed to support a couple of different chrono layouts, but the BB implies big date as well. I assume that we must also be getting closer to a B02 as well, but no confirmation on that.

If we get confirmation on this and it will be a DB, then I may cancel my Navitimer B01 LE that I have ordered. I have been wanting a Blackbird and if it has big date, DB and in house..... well that, to me, would be the jewel of Breitling. My luck is that it will be announced and available about a month after I take possesion of the Navi! :)

Haven't heard anything about it being a DB. I was left with the impression that the DBs are done, but not 100% on that.

I guess the likely hood of ordering one (instead of the Navi) will be whether or not it has a display back. We can always hope, but I agree that we might be limited to the 6000 DB's that we already know about. (which is a giant move forward for Brietling, IMO).

I am really interested to see what Breitling is going to do to a Blackbird B01(or B02...) to make it look different than the standard Blackbird.

With all the LEs recently, I'd be surprised if there WASN'T a LE edition of the "Blackbird B01" (or whatever it will be called) released initially. I'm sure it'll be a superb watch. Big date and DB would be great! :wowzers
