The experts tell us that this autumn is supposed to be the best one in years for fall colours because of the weather this summer. It's been a rather windy week so quite a few have already been blown off the trees, but this was the view from home this morning with the sun shining on it and I thought it was worth trying to capture. Something to remember when everything's covered in snow in a couple of months :(

Beautiful, where I live on the central coast of California we really don't have seasons. It's really nice to see pics of all the fall colors!

That picture brings back some happy memories, I once drove from Calgary to Fort Nelson BC at this time of the year. What an unforgetable journey, nothing like that in the UK, except perhaps parts of Scotland?

I'm in Jakarta, Indonesia at present nothing like that here.

That's a pretty cool idea.

Winter may have to be a slightly different angle - I'm standing on top of a 90 foot high ridge for that shot (house is about 30 feet back from the edge) and in the winter the snow drives in off the water and piles up turning the vertical cliff into a 45 degree slope so it's kinda tough to figure out where the edge is

Really beautiful. Fall is one of my favorite times of year.

That is one thing I miss about not living on the East Coast (Pennsylvania, specifically). There is a dearth of deciduous trees in Chicago and the surrounding areas. It's all flatland out here!. Makes for a fairly featureless landscape...

Thanks for bringing a little bit of "home" to me with this photo.

I lived in northern Delaware (as if Delaware is big enough to have a north and south)through Junior HS and we made fall pilgrimages to PA and the DE/MD border to overlooks where the tapestry of red, orange, yellow, gold, and green stretched to the horizon. It was lovely.

Now don't dis my second home. Get out of the Chicagoland area and hit western Illinios (quad cities), or the Rockford area. Better yet get up to lower Wisconsin and the Dells area. And there are about 50 "Forrest Preserves" in Chicagoland too!! It's "decidu"licious!

Great view Roff. Throw in a cup of coffee, a newspaper, and slippers and you got a hell of a way to start the day

Reminds me of my time in undergrad. If anyone ever gets the chance to take 540 from Ft Smith to Fayetteville Arkansas. There are a few weeks during football season where it is amazing.

PS Go Hogs!!!

Do you know why the Arkansas women go to college at UofA to find husbands? They have plenty of cousins there. :nana:
