I have to find a new birthday present for my brother since the first one was not to my satisfaction.
What do you think is the best buy? Both is about 1100-1200$. Yes, expensive but this is in Sweden and i don´t have time to buy on ebay.

Used condition but recent serviced.

Superocean...but this choice depends on his personal tast for asthetics (bezel) and his knowlege of the inner ring function (numbers 1-100). If you were my brother I would want you to buy me both of them.

Ok so educate a newbie here if ya will. I own a Colt and it's been a great daily wearer for the past couple of years and stood up well to the rigors of the Iraqi desert deployment too. I mean other than the obvious that the SO is an Automatic and the Colt is a Quartz....they both look pretty much the same in style and function to me. Please tell me more why you guys are recommending the SO over the Colt?

As for the 0-100 marks I don't have a clue as to what that represents. I have not had a chance to look over my new SOP as I'm still here in Iraq, but get to go home next month and play with my new acquisitions. I got several new additions I will get to lay my mitts on and probably bring a few of them back over here with me after my vacation.

Thank you for helping me. I have a later superocean myself so it´s feels great to get him one to but i have no experience of the other colt. I don´t think the rubber strap is very nice but that´s easy to upgrade. I have pictures of the backside now and i looks terrible scratched. i wonder how it could have been done? Anyway, i guess thats could be polished.

The seller told me the hands have been replaced. I guess a new dial should be on the upgrade list. Will a any superocean dial fit?

I vote SO.

However I will say that if you are planning on spending that kind of money on a watch, you should make sure it is really the one you want, even if it is for your brother, which btw is extremely cool 8) of you. (I don't do anything for my little bro)

If time is of the essence... Check out some sales forums. Most times if there is something you want, the sale can be completed and the watch received much faster than ebay.

Thanks H60sarman! I appreciate the link and now I feel a bit more educated...although they need to make those numbers bigger for us "Older" guys that have a hard time reading those tiny little numbers without wearing glasses :geek:   That and the print on medicine bottles....you would think that something as important as directions for medication, which is consumed by more of the "Older" generation, would be in bigger print as well.

I´m very happy for all the feedback. I have made a reservation of the watch and might as well give you the background to the story as well.

It´s my littlebrothers 30th birthday and i know he have a lot of appreciation for quality watches. Yet, until now he have no Breitling. He have a favourite watch Omega speedmaster that he bought i Kosovo during the war as a kfor soldier, also his daily work watch is looking something like this

Image
a citizen. He uses that working as a police in Stockholm Sweden.
He also have some other cheaper watches.

Now, i did buy a Breitling colt chronographic at first on ebay. I was quite dissapointed as it didn´t meet my standards as i have a Superocean myself. I think it was to small, flimsy bracelet and deep scratch on crystal. Yesterday i sent that one back as i have found the SO in Sweden. Talked to the guy selling and he is very trustworthy and knowing about watches.

I think this will be a great gift as he can use it as his workwatch replacing the citizen. If he likes to he could polish it up and get a ss bracelet to get it a bit more shiny if he likes to. This is not just from me but the whole family paying and i hope it will remind him his family always there for him as he is now living about 100 miles away from us.

So, 21 october this will be the birthdaypresent for my brother :popo:
