Hello, I have just purchased a new Avenger Skyland and love the watch. However, I have noticed that the second hand for the chronograph (stop watch hand) doesn't seem to move as smoothly as my other Caliber 13 Brietling. It does though keep excellent time as I ran the chronograph for ten hours last night and it was on within a second or two. Anybody else notice this or have any suggestions? I've shown it to another person or two, and not being watch people, they really don't notice it. It almost looks like it will jump just a bit every few seconds. I ask the forum first before my AD as I trust the forum more. I'm confident my AD are great sales people, but not great watch people.

I have the EXACT SAME experience with my new Skyland. I actually just wrote it off as me going nuts, but now I'm not so sure. The situation you describe is my exact experience -- it appears to hesitiate/jump for a split second every once in a while. I thought it might be an optical illusion, as the red sqaure at the tip of the chrono hand passed over light/dark areas of the dial, but I think I just talked myself into that as an excuse.

I have no explanation or ideas. Mine keeps good time as well. But at least we can be baffled together. Incidentally, I think we bought our watches at the same store.

That does make me feel a little better, as I was hoping I wasn't going a little nuts myself. Had you asked the store their opinion? Since I see you are a fellow Virginian, did you buy it at SP? I'm going back to pick up a leather strap in a week or two so I was going to get their opinion then. Thanks again for the reply.

Yes, I bought mine at the Short Pump store. Vicky is fantastic -- I cannot recommend her enough. As you said, terrific sales staff, nut nobody in there is a real watch nut. I noticed the jumpy chrono hand right away, the second I started it, mentioned it to her, and she looked at me like I was nuts. I have been in there enough to the point where I'm totally comfortable telling her if I think something is off, but she just wasn't seeing it. We had a laugh about it, but got another watch to compare. I let it run for a few minutes, side by side with another one. Eventually, I had been staring at both hands (one on each watch) going round and round for so long, I could no longer tell if either one was normal or not. Since it was keeping good time, I figured it was me who was the problem, and I took the watch.

I'm curious to hear your experience. We can't both be crazy, can we!?

This is crazy. I dealt with Tim who, as with everybody in there, is great to deal with. However, you may appreciate this but I just found out that another gentleman who used to work at Schwarzchild (former ling AD) is joining the Finks team at SP. Bought my last ling, CSO, from him. His name is Dave and he is a watch guy. I'll probably stop by and say hi next week and see what he thinks. At least I'm not the only crazy watch guy in Richmond.

I've seen several Valjoux 7750 movements where the chronograph hand is a bit different in the size of the jumps here and there. I'm quite certain its normal. Its not as smooth as most regular central second hands it seems. Not sure why. The Evo I am wearing right now is consistent in the size of the jumps.

Yes. It's good to know. I do wonder if it is something that can be regulated. I looked at my CSO and a friends EVO again today and they do appear a bit smoother. But if it keeps good time I can't complain too much. I just love the look of the watch and don't want to part with it. Thanks again.
