I have now finally won an auction. It was a Airwolf with blue dial. A paid appx 1250euro. Unfortunatly there is no box and no papers with the watch but if that saves me money thats a good thing. The watch is bought on auction from a pawn shop so it's not fake. I really wanted a battery powered watch and with blue dial, and as big as possible . I will probably send it to service once to get it polished when it's time for new battery.

I have some questions.
1 Do i loose anything by buying a watch without papers as i did?
2 I would like to have links on how to do battery change on the watch. I will do this myself in the future
3 Also i would like to get as much info in general about the watch, service, maintainence etc.
4 Some DIY on polishing technique and tools are appriciated
5 Was the price reasonable?

Box and papaers affect resale value, if there was no warranty then there is no practical impact.

I wouldn't recommend battery changing yourself - Breitling don't charge that much for a simple change, and you don't run the risk of causing damage or having Breitling refuse future service on the watch.

If you want to know a service history on the watch then try contacting the Breitling distributor in the country that it was first sold (or the country that you bought it from) and they should be able to help you out.

For polishing, do a search here for Cape Cod and you'll find everything you need to know!

There isn't any waranty left on the watch so that's no issue. Is it true that every watch is registered on a person, and can this be re-registered on a new owner?

Not true. It's true for Emergency / Emergency Mission, and it's true through some distributors - BUSA for example, but it's not a Breitling policy. I'm not sure exactly what (if any) records get updated if you contact Breitling and tell them that you have just bought a specific watch.

They dont update records. I tried once, and they told me that it will always be registered to the original owner.

EDIT: here was the exact reply copied from an old email (there was more, but none of it pertained to the transferring of a watch): " Unfortunately, we cannot change the registration of the watch to your name and information."

It looks like everythings been answered except for the price. Euro prices are usually much different than US prices, so I cant really help you there. It seems reasonable though.

I'll have a go at a couple of the questions.

I think UK prices are pretty close to other parts of Europe and that would equate to a pretty good price over here even without box and papers, depending on condition of course.

Ploishing, from that one picture it looks pretty good and you could tidy it up with a Cape Cod cloth. There are other cheap techniques, but could be risky if you've never done anything similar. Plenty of Cape Cods on eBay.

Yea i had the feeling that the price was fair. I dont really know exactly how scratched the watch is more than from photos. I will recieve the watch next week. But the guy from pawnshop said its only smaller "standard" scratches u get form regular usage. Hopefully its nothing more.

So cape cod is the way to go i guess.

I just realized that i'm going to the US next week and thet Cape Cod is made over there so i guess i can buy there in stores maybe.

I think that you'll find that Cape Cods are Canadian - we haven't been annexed by the US just yet!

Cape Cods will help you to get your highly polished finish.

I guess that US makes more sense given the name.

They are available in some US stores I believe, but readily available through eBay, generally for less than direct.

As Roff's said, you've already got the right ones, couple of points:

Don't use them on brushed surfaces, ie the bezel on your Airwolf and keep away from the crystal

Keep them sealed as best you can otherwise they dry out

And what do you mean by crystal? The glas or the quartz crysta l ?

Fanatic is refering to the crystal (glass) on the front of the watch. I use the Cape Cod on my Evo and the cloth's bring the shine out nicely. I havn't sent either of my watches to Breitling for re-polish yet but if you do please post before and after pics. Nice watch and I agree with prior reply in regards to NOT changing batteries yourself. Good luck.
