Navitimer Caliber 01: an exclusive motor powering a legendary model
The Navitimer Caliber 01 special edition is available in two limited series of 2,000 in steel, and 200 in red gold, each bearing an individual number engraved on the side of the case middle. The case features a diameter slightly broader than that of the series produced Navitimer (43 mm compared with 42 mm).
The dial which is made using the “épargne” process on a solid silver or gold base – a sophisticated technique endowing the indications with peerless radiance and readability – is exclusively available in a classic black version with applied hour-markers. Breitling’s winged symbol in gold is slightly raised to stand out from the watch face. The transparent sapphire
caseback, a rare feature on Breitling models, provides a unique opportunity to admire the original architecture of Caliber 01 with its column wheel, its oscillating weight and its entirely performance oriented design. An impressive set of characteristics that are bound to delight devotees of exclusive models – before the series-produced Navitimer models equipped with 100% Breitling calibers take
flight next spring.

That's the first new B in a long time that I actually like.

And once again, that guy who posted about this a month or two ago and was roundly mocked turns out to be right.

I might be getting in line for one of these.

does this mean we can forgive the red strike and chronomatic 49?

Also...with a DB and a 43 mm case I think Breitling met the two desires of A LOT of members on this forum.

I heard that we might see it this year, but this is sooner than I thought - suggests that it may be released soon too.

It's so nice to see a DB automatic from Breitling, though I am slightly surprised that it isn't a little more visibly different - not complaining though. I like the red on the chrono seconds being extended all the way down to the arbor rather that just on the tip.

43mm is likely a good compromise, though some may wish for 44. I also like the idea of the number being on the side of the case, another first for Breitling. Let's hope that it's priced sensibly.

I still struggle with the idea that a watch as classic as this can be announced pretty much at the smae time as the red rubber CM49 - and technically part of the same series too. I guess that's 'diversity', but......

It works for me, the first photo has a real depth of feel to it, very nice.

Couple quick observations. I like how the Anchor and Wings are now a white gold medallion instead of a painted gold. The date wheel has changed to the B01 Font, and the sub dials appear to have some depth to them. I like how it's slight larger (1.5mm) than the current Navitimer... and as Roff said, the seconds chrono hand is all red. AND of course the Display Caseback. I love that they didn't try to do too much with it and change it up. They stayed true to the Navitimer design and it looks great. I would have liked to have seen 44mm or even a World size 46mm but this is a great start.
