that blue is too...blue! imo it's harder to sell a blue dial than a black or white.

That's not true. Toro would buy the Black Eye Blue Bird in an instant.

you right!
the black is too black...too borring.
the blue(and its not regular blue!!)with the black contrast gives it a rock n roll life in the dial especially if you are under the sun light in different angels!

mfserge,

To weigh in on the subject I think that is a very stunning combo, but that is just my vote. That is the reason there are so many options out there so as to appeal to folks with different tastes. As several others have stated on here, "If you like it, buy it". I would like to see a reverse combination of that, I think that would look pretty sharp.

The BB in any color combo (sans the LEs) are gorgeous. My heart says "I NEED" my bank account says "YEA RIGHT".

Your opinion is based on a PLANE!!!!!! You called your opinion stupid and illogical...and I agree with your initial assessment.

In that first picture the case looks polished...Is that just the light?

PS These pictures have sent my whole 2011 game plan into a tailspin. I may have to bump this to the top of the list

It's just the reflection that made it appear polished but it's actually brushed.

What the hell happened to this thread. Cometman, I think mfserge was being sarcastic in his first comment. As for the plane thing, I really couldn't give a crap that the original BB was based on a plane and I don't think that all BB's should only be black dial w/brushed case. Plus the original BB was just a Chronomat with a brushed case and black dial, nothing really special about that. There are choices so everyone can be happy. And as far as just getting an Evo if you want a different combo, well I don't want an Evo, they bore me.

I'm not sure but they're the same case so you would think they would. I've though, briefly, about putting a brushed evo bezel on the polished BB. Not sure how it would look though, I guess just like the Evo since it's a brushed bezel on a polished case. I also like the countdown bezel, or whatever it's called, on the Evo better than the compass one, which I think is pretty damn useless, on the BB. All that being said, I don't think I'll change anything on it since it's a pretty awesome watch.

As said the case is the same so a diamond bezel should fit, not sure it would look right though, but then I'm not a diamond guy.

I couldn't give two hoots about the plane connection, but I do think that it's a bit weird to have a watch called a blackbird that isn't black - the original blue one was known as the 'bluebird' which kinda made sense. I know that the watch is named for the plane rather than specifically the colour, but I don't think that the SR71 would have been known as blackbird if it was green.

Does it really matter, no of course not, and it doesn't affect the watch, not really sure why this discussion has headed in a rather bizarre direction.
