Since I last posted I actually got the chance to try on the Rolex GMT-IIc and that's what I would go with. Damn that thing is just really nice.

An excellent choice
Only reason I didn't nominate the GMT is because if I only have one, it would have to be a dive watch.

Good point. What's the WR on the GMT? Either way I want it

100m for the GMT (c.f. 300m for the Sub, 1220 for the SD).

You can still swim with it, and it does have the triplock crown, unlike the earlier 16710 GMT-II, but it's not a *dive watch*. Go and get one on a impulse, I did and I love it.

I can deal with 100m, I'll just take it off when I swim. Hell I do that anyway.
As far as getting it on impulse, I could do that but then I might wind up without a wife. Shut up sharky! It really crossed my mind the other day though, what a great watch. The TT one was really nice also and I generally hate gold. For some reason I've gotten on a Rolex kick lately, I just hate the bracelet on some of their models. What the hell were they thinking with the DSSD and the bracelet on the Explorer II is just a joke, it felt fake but I do think it's also a pretty cool watch, especially with the black dial.
