So I have been pondering my next watch purchase, I am deciding between a Breitling Bentley GT, older Naivitimer Olympus or 1461. I am leaving towards the GT, but not sure how I feel about buying one without actually owning a Bentley? Maybe I am just crazy but would love to hear some of your guys thoughts.

I kinda get what you're saying, but if I could actually afford a Bentley I probably wouldn't be buying a B4B anyway. I'd probably be wearing a Patek, an AP, a JLC or something ridiculous like that. Just my opinion.

I'd say the link between Bentley and a B4B is tenuous at best.

It's certainly not a prerequisite to have owned/to own a Bentley to have a B4B. It's really just a branding thing - and one I don't truly understand. Not entirely sure if either brand is getting any value out of it. The line does have some nice looking pieces though.

I'm not really into the brand tie-in thing either. Kinda like PAM and Ferrari, just doesn't do it for me. But like you said, they are pretty, especially the GT.

I surely cannot afford a Bentley, but I still got a Mark VI. I love how it looks, how its built. It is quite the timepiece.

With all honestly.... I would choose many cars over a Bentley for the price anyway! Not that I can afford a Bentley or anything (yet lol) but I would still like to own the watch, absolutely! ITS ONLY A WATCH!

My father drives a S63 AMG and has the IWC Clock built in the interior yet doesn't wear an IWC on the Wrist. He wears a Rolex.

The "matching set"( if you will) means nothing IMO.

YOU LIKE, BUY IT! :D

Couldn't agree with that more.
Maybe you should get your dad an IWC for Father's Day

I have some Bentley pieces, and I don't drive a Bentley. To me the watches are Breitlings that I like and appreciate so I'm happy to buy them. The name on the dial makes no difference to me (pro or con), and in the larger scheme of things I'm not sure where the brand alignement is going these days.

The presence of an obvious logo (Panerai / Ferrari) would put me off, but a relatively subtle name soesn't bother me at all. I like the fact that the more obvious Bentley connections are generally on the reverse.

If they didn't have the "Bentley" logo on the watch, I would still love it. I guess this specific model is analogous to the bentley. timeless, refined, high quality, etc.

I dont buy into the brand alignment, but really like the stylings regardless. The bentley aspect is really an afterthough, and the only real corellation is the bezel maybe being based off the grill.

Non-WIS may take the Bentley aspect to be a little flashy and pompass, but honestly...if you dont own a watch what do I care what you think about mine?

That is a pretty good point, I know I would be wearing an AP ROO Safari if I had the coin.

While we are on the topic....Anybody know if the marketing goes both ways....It seems that Breilting gets more benefit of being associated with Bentley than vice versa.

I know Bentley uses the Breitling dashboard clock, but do they also issue a watch to new owners? That may be a reasonable exchange for a partnership of this sorts. Otherwise I am at a bit of a loss ast to Bentleys benefit

THEY DONT GIVE OUT WATCHES WITH A PURCHASE, THAT WE KNOW, BUT BENTLEY GETS PAID, AND WELL, FOR THEIR END IN THIS

A straight cash deal seems even more odd, particullarly in this climate. Some folks at Breitling HQ are really sold on this relationship.
