Congrats. As someone who has the 000 and the 312, I can say they have a very different feel. I do like the simple plainness of the 000. But the 1950 case of the 312 is a lot more refined and the quality if the finishing and the detailing of the shape is amazing.

I don't mind not having a second hand on the 000. I like the simplicity and the symmetry of having all the numerals on the dial.

My money is still on the 312 Andrew :D

Either way, both are superb wrist watches that have great residual values. So, there is no wrong decision.

Many Congrats up either of the PAMs. Can't wait to see you pictures.

In the mean time here is a shot (courtesy of Martin Wilmsen from Paneristi.com) of the 312, just to screw your head up a little :nana:

I have to say the 312 is a great sugestion and a fantastic watch!! I love the simplicity of the dial! If I did not own a 233 it would be my next watch in fact.

That said, I would not get it as my first PAM. I think a base model should be yoru first, something like a 111 or 112 or even a Zero, then move on to a Rad and eventualy the 1950 case. That way you can build your collection over the years. Oh and trust me this will not be yoru only Panerai!

OK, I phoned the AD about straps today and they could tell me they have a 312 in stock  Having thought very hard over the past couple of weeks and looking at many pics I'm going to change my deposit on the 000 to the 312 tomorrow!!
Just love the look of the second marker and the small date. I just think that although I love the look of the 000 with the logo that I may get quickly bored with nothing else to look at.

Cheers

Excellent news, Andrew, congrats. I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of my 312, expected in a couple of weeks, so post a couple of pics to help me with the wait.

I too am looking at Panerai's, the 312 is at the top but now I also have a taste for the Pam 359! I love the arabic numbers on the dial

I was originally trying to get the PAM321 - for whatever reason, it has been delayed for over 15 months.

Long story short, I happened upon the 359 on the same day that the guy who was supposed to buy it backed out...needless to say, I snatched it up. I absolutely love the clean look of the all-polished case and the more rustic lume. The subtlety of the smaller arabic numbers just keeps growing on me...so much that I decided I really don't want the 321. I'm extremely happy with the 359 - it's a simple, yet stunning example of a historic PAM.

But I digress.... :D
