Hello. I have a Breitling transocean cal 12 like the one in picture (b).
It was from my father, and is very ,very used.
I send it to a A.D for a quote for repair, and they give a quote of €1500.
Revision and repair of movemet, because in chrono mode the second hand always stuck in the 55 second mark, new glass, polish of case, new set of hands, and repair of the back case cover, because is was very damage due to someone tried to open without proper tools. i believe it was before it belong to my father, because he was a watchmaker, and i know he had tool to open this watch, plus labor and Vat.
So, do you beleive is worth the quote they give-me? the watch also have a brand new genuine bracelet that cost over €300 in 2000 , and after replacment never was used again.
My father have send the watch to same AD in 2000, when they replace the bacelet, and didnt repair the movement because they say that the part needed was no longer stocked, And now they tell-me that will be fixed.They also say is from 1969.I have seen some like this one around €1800 to €2200 depending condition. Im tempting to make the repair, but is bit expensive.
if you had the money would you make the repair?
I have talk with breitling to just make the serviçe of movemet and replace the glass, and they say that only will do the full repair or return the watch as it is. I didnt like much about breitling conditions. I think i could decide what to be fixed, or not.
Can someone indicate a wacth repair in europe so i can try to find a cheaper quote?

That cost doesn't make sense from a purely financial standpoint - you would never get the money back if you sold the watch, but if the watch was your father's then that may not be relevant.

Depending on what needs repairing / replacing repairs on these early automatic movements can be very expensive, but that still seems high to me. There is a highly recommended restorer on here - chronodeco (Craig), but he is US based rather than Europe. He may still be able to help you though - but would need to see pictures of hte actual watch.

Thank you for reply. I have look at chronodeco site, and would be easy for him to restore the wacth, but send the watch to Usa, it can be lost in post.It can happen is europe too, of course. But in europe i can take a low cost flight, and is an excuse to travel
