Hi all,

I recently missed a circa 1968 sprint 2010 on a Ebay auction

http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 352wt_1139

Since then, I decided to hunt for one as I've been caught by this beautiful butterfly dial and find this particular model very classy.
Yesterday I found this one :

Benno Richter's book shows this particular model with a orange second hand as seen in the Ebay auction showed above.
What would be the expert clues : aftermarket hand ? correct period variation ?
Should we find a doomed or a flat glass ?
As it come to the movement is this watch supposed to come with a Valjoux 7733 or a 7730 ?

Is there any detail I missed ?

What would you pay to a professional seller for this one if - like me - you would be really attracted by this one.

Any inputs greatly appreciated,

Many thanks,

Laurent

I've had a couple of these over the years. The early versions, like this one of 1967, might have been fitted with the Venus 188 movement or the Valjoux 7730, they are almost identical in appearance. I think Breitling used the Venus 188 until they ran out but you'll have to look closely around the balance wheel for the manufacturers mark to tell for sure. I can't see it in the picture. The Valjoux 7733 is also correct but came along in the Sprint a little later. As to value, I would think in the $750-$1250 range depending on condition. The watch pictured looks to be in very nice condition. Having the serial number both on the back and inside the back cover is a little unusual though.

I think that this is a 7730 - you can just see what looks like a 30 underneath the regulator. That said, the maker's shield is on the plate, and Valjoux more usually had it immediately above the caliber number.

Indeed it's in great condition~

I've been looking for some as well but unfortunately everyone is asking for too much or the cheap ones are in too crappy in a condition :(

Thank you Gentlemen for your inputs.
I understand everything is perfect,
the seller claims it is a 7730 Valjoux, which seems to make sense.
Only one thing goes wrong, the $2 600 asking price...
I doubt my negotiations talents will allow me to reach a 50% discount.
The hunt goes on, it's all about patience and obstinacy.

Many thanks,

Laurent
