AD's that doesn't know what a COSC is and that it should follow the watch is frightening.

I totally agree. That combined with the fact that the dealer won't cut me any slack on a new Rolex (will not discount SS professional models, only 10% on others) regardless of how much I've purchased from them in the past (SS submariner, Chronomat Evo, jewelery for presents, etc.) means that I'm on the lookout for a new AD.

Quick update on this one.....

My mate sent his Jomashop-supplied Chronomat Evo off to Breitling for authentication and to order a new certificate (assuming it was genuine of course!).

Well he just told me that Breitling have confirmed that his watch is indeed genuine, and they are ordering him a new COSC certificate at a cost of about £30.

So there we go : Jomashop watches are obviously genuine, and while they rather curiously don't supply the COSC certificate, you can remedy the problem for less than £40 (including posting your watch to Breitling).

Not bad considering the saving he made on the purchase price.....

Driver8,

Are we getting back to the 4 old ladies NATTERING at each other over who had what when the lunch tab came again ? Let me ask you this :

Does he like the LING ?

Is it a genuine LING ?

Did he get a good price ?

Does he frame and hang certificates around his home ?

If he did get the certificate what the F--k is he going to do with it ?

Tell him to enjoy the LING and move on !

Next you guy's will be writing in to see if the LING came with the protective plastic stuff you have to peel off the crystal and bracelet that is such a hassle.

 Straight to the point as ever Ling Man! I think what he was more bothered about was the AUTHENTICITY of the watch (as the lack of Certificate caused him concern), rather than getting hold of the certificate itself. But for just 30 quid he'll have that as well.

Now, you must excuse me as I'm being stitched up for the fish course that I DEFINITELY didn't have, and this can only be sorted with a bit of nattering!

Just a couple of (maybe minor) things to bear in mind. The replacement certificate won't be identical to the original - it will be marked as a duplicate; and COSC will only issue one replacement cert - if that one gets lost the only way to get it replaced is to have the movement recertified.

The only exceptions are for damaged certificates - if you surrender the original they will reissue - but of course only to Breitling.

Another thing to bear in mind:

If you intend to sell the watch later on and miss the original warranty card, then the COSC is helping a lot.
