Hi All,

A TZ sales corner watch has caught my eye: http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t= ... 4150&rid=0

The seller has a good reputation going back some years as far as I can establish.

The watch is not new enough to be "new" and not old enough to be "vintage", however I think because of its bezel, its likely to be seen as an interesting watch in years to come.

The watch is 9 years old and never been serviced but I have been told it runs within 4 seconds a day. I understand it needs a polish and a new strap.

What do you guys think as a starter watch? Its the same size as the current Montbrillant but I don't necessarily want a massive watch.

If you think its really cr@p, please feel free to say so here.

If you think I should buy it immediately, then better PM me

Seriously though, its been posted on sites for several weeks without sale so I don't think there are too many people looking at it at this moment.

Regards
Stuart

Entirely my opinion but
1. Too Small
2. not especially attractive
3. proper band and buckle/deployant expensive if have to buy a new one (genuine)
4. Too Small
5. still Too Small
6. did I mention it was too small???

save your pennies, the right one will pop up soon enough!

ask yourself why its been floating around the for sale pages for ages :o

I like the appearance and the pricing seems fair. It would go for more than that if sold in Sweden. However, I'm not comfortable with paying these prices to a private person in a country far far away (especially not in Asia or Africa) - I would wait for something else to pop by.

Edit: However - NZ is maybe not far far away from Singapore... :)

Thanks guys!

Your comments confirm some of the thoughts I had in the back of my mind.

doctor diesel: Reading between the lines, I think it would be better if it were larger, right?

What would a new Breitling strap and deployant cost?

If I add the cost of the replacement strap and say, US$300 for the overdue service, I could probably pick up something in the Navitimer range in "LNIB" condition for a similar price (maybe even with a bit of warrantee left).

aleister: Thanks for your comments. I like the look of it too (although I am starting to think it might be a bit small!)

I have done some searching on the seller and I am confident that he has a long and good reputation, nevertheless, I'll hold back. As DD says, "The right one will come along soon enough". 8)

Good Call, a deployant in gold to match the bezel would run you the same cost again, in steel perhaps $300 ish plus the strap...simple leather perhaps $150, croc upto $450 ....rough estimates, not got my chronolog here.

The correct watch will call out to you, I suspect this one isn't shouting loud enough!

I was all set to pull the trigger on an aerospace 2 weeks ago but after trying it on, the navi world could still be heard shouting from the AD window...I'm waiting and saving!
