I have inherited this Breitling chronograph. I guess it is from the 60s but can't find out anything about it. On the back is engraved: Breitling, stainless steel back, 823586, 1192.
I would like to find out all possible information about this model, possibly the value. Also what kind of strap/bracelet was originally fitted on it.
Thanks a lot!
Geoff

Well, the serial number dates it to 1953, and the 1192 is a two register, square pusher chronograph, one of our members - vintage (Paul) has / had a couple. However, I have some serious concerns about this particular watch - the dial does not look at all correct. Is it possible to see photos of the inside and outside of hte caseback and the movement?

I am not able to send you pictures of the inside, as I am not able to open it myself.
I took some of the back and sides though.
About the dial, I know it was not in good condition at some stage and got fixed by Breitling. No idea what was done exactly.

If that is a Breitling supplied redial then I would be amazed - I've seen nothing like it before. The caseback also looks odd, but Paul knows more about the 1192s than I do.

Just so happens I wore my 1199 out today...

Image

The markers are very very similar, if not the same... The registers are the same too (second on the left and 45min on the right) but the dial I would say would surprise me too if that was done by Breitling themselves... honestly it's not that great of a job... :(

Very nice!

There's no way that the OP's can be a Breitling done dial - the chrono seconds hand masks it a little, but just look at the 'B'.

Is the chapter ring (if that is the correct phrase) painted over the applied hour markers?

Yeah, it looks like it - it also looks like there is another name on the dial under Breitling.
