But I was always under the impression that while submerged in water, it is not a good idea to activate the chronograph pushers and/or work the crown. Hence the reason the chronomat for example has a screw down crown and screw down pushers. So my question comes from noticing that most chronographs in the aeromarine line do not have screw down pushers. Being that the watches in this line were intended to be used in the water, some of which at serious depths, why are the pushers not screw down? Are they able to be activated in the water because of some sort of seal that is not present in the chronmat and only in the aeromarine line? I always though screw down pushers added water resistance. Also, once submerged and facing serious water pressure, wouldn't you think that the pushers would be pushed in due to the water pressure bearing down on them? idk....... im just rambling.

I think that the M1 chrono avenger is the only breitling that can have the pushers used underwater, I suppose the screw down crowns were just an aesthetic thing more than anything else, much like a helium valve. Good to look at, but useful? Not really.

The seawolf chrono has magnetic pushers that enable you to use them under water. As far as I know, that is the only model that you can use the chrono pushers submerged.

The reason the Aeromarine models don't have screwdown pushers is probably because they are generally speaking cheaper models than the Windrider range. Even without screwin pushpieces they are still perfectly water resistant at depth provided you don't use them. The purpose of the screw in pushpieces on the Chronomat is to simply prevent accidental usage under water - not to provide water resistance itself. There is no reason other than cost (or as a way to distinguish between the relative "luxuriousness" of the ranges) why Breitling did not include screw-in pushpieces on the Aeromarine models too.

The Seawolf Chrono (and the older M1) are the only Breitlings with pushpieces that can be safely operated underwater. If you use the pushpieces of other models underwater you will likely create a pumping action that allows water into the case.

In terms of would the water pressure depress teh pushpieces, well you'd a heck of a lot of pressure to do that! Far more than you'd find in the usable working range of the watch.

Very few manufacturers produce watches with pushpieces that are operable at depth - The Doxa 600T-Graph is one, as is the Tag Aquagraph 2000, but AFAIK the Seawolf Chrono and the M1 are the only watches with pushpieces that are operable to the full WR rating of the case.
