The Steelfish is a good choice for a first Breitling - size, stlye, and a lower price. But if the chronomat is what you crave, follow your urge.

I have just done the same for my 30th. My advice - go to a good AD with a big selection and try some on, it's very personal and people will recommend what they like / have.

Must agree with Dan. If there was a "best" Breitling there wouldn't be so many in the range. I'd say think about the following things:

Are you going to wear it every day or just for special occasions? Does durability/waterproofing matter? Does it have to go with a suit/shirt? Would you prefer a metal bracelet or a croc strap? Do you want a chronograph

Are you simply interested in the looks or do you want a mechanical marvel? Some people would discount all quartz watches as they feel a real watch must have a heartbeat. Others feel that Superquartz is just as impressive as an automatic movement and will offer more accuracy and often more functionality, if it's functions you need.

Using these two main things, you can probably narrow your choice down considerably. Probably

Hopefully then you can go into a good AD and at least give them a short(ish) list of watches you want to try on.

You're better off asking for members' experience with individual watches or technical info, rather then asking for the 'best' watch. You'll get tons of help.

I say use your head to make a shortlist, then let your heart make the final decision and you'll end up with the right watch.

Good luck and best wishes!

Very well said. You need to go try them on yourself so you can narrow it down.

I just did this and got a Blackbird for my 30th. Same size and case as the Chronomat Evo and if fits great and goes with everything. Evo would be a great first Breitling IMHO, was what I was gonna go for before the Blackbird became available.

Chronomat! You can't go wrong with it! From the desk to the bars it is always a pleaser! :lingsrock: IMO The perfect all-around size!

I'd choose the Chronomat as my first piece because of the versatility.
