If you know what the equivalent models are, I just have no idea who else used the Y652.

Of course you will have the same problem there as well at some point. I checked with a movement supply house (Jules Borel) and they don't carry the Y652 any more.

Roff,

No, it's a bad situation...

In a couple of week's time I'm going to explore the possibility of fitting a current movement to the case. Won't help the value of course but at least it can be used as a beater...

Try using this string in the eBay search - include the brackets.

(H461A, Y652A, Y652B, "BREITLING 51", Y652, 900911, 900231, Pluton, Academy, Intruder, Chronosport, ScubaPro, Microma, Realtime, Spationaute,)

Make sure the "Include title and description" box is ticked. Narrow the search field to Watches.

Add any other references you find within the brackets separated by a comma.

There's a Seiko available at the moment with a suitable donor movement but an asking price of £400. :(

Best of luck.

Hey, Nice one! Good "Search-foo" :-)

I can save that search and just wait for something to come up. Less that £400 ;-)

Hi Bigeric,

I was in the same situation as you, when my New Pluton broke. Some issue with the crown. Breitling refused to repair as there was no spare parts and offered me a discount on some model. It was very upsetting as this watch never left my left arm for the past 20 years, the worst bit was that breitling did not explained precisely what was wrong with it... Then I realised that this watch is in fact the same as a Chronosport, so I decided to bite the bullet and send it to the Chronosport service center in the US... (http://www.chronosportwatchrepair.com). Paul there fixed the issue as in fact of a broken crown, it was the screw tube which was broken and he had the part!! This only re-inforced that Breitling did not even look at what was wrong with watch and told me it could not be fixed without explaining which part exactly was broken...

Maybe I should not tell you this, as I want to keep this for myself, a bit like an insurance, that if something was to go wrong with my watch, I know where to go to get it fixed.... But here it is, I also believe that he has THE part that you are looking for...

I am only posting this message, as I empathise with you and fully understand why you would be a lost customer to Breitling. Had my Breitling 20 years ago, loved the Brand and the tool watch spirit of the time, the fact that it was not so mainstream and no bling.

They were great to me in term of sponsorship as well, but then things have changed, their SAV is getting worst and the attitude of the AD is not helping the situation and perception of the Brand... Give me a Sinn 903 anytime versus a recent Navitimer, mind you I would not mind getting hold of an original Breitling 806... It is very sad that Breitling is losing touch with their 'root' but instead sell their marketing vision...

Good Luck and hope that you will get it fixed... The watch might not be pretty inside as being quartz, but then it is highly functional...

JayBee,

Really appreciate your help! :-) I'll definitely contact them and see what they have to say.

A bit daunting to send a watch from the Uk to the US just for a service... :-)

I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks again.

Eric

That's a bummer.

Nice to know Breitling will offer a nice discount if you surrender the old timepiece. If that's the case, I would suggest a mechanical timepiece next time around.

Hi,

In the end it turned out to be some bad contacts. Breitling cleaned them and the LCD panel came alive!
