Just wanted to post a note of thanks.

I've been reading through the forums trying to decide on a watch. When I first started looking I wanted a Colt GMT, then I saw the Automatic and liked that a little better. After reading posts on this forum, and looking at pictures on the net to compare the two I decided on the Automatic. I made some calls to some AD's and asked around who had one, and found a place that said he had one in black with the SS band on it. I drove over today to have a look and possibly pick it up and upon arrival it turned out he only had the Colt Quartz... which is nice, but not what I wanted. I spent some time looking around and came across a Superocean Steelfish and after some debate, decided to try it on. I can't believe how heavy they are. I've been wearing a Tissot Trekking for the last year which is ultra light and a Rolex Explorer II which is very minimal, so this was quite a change. My initial thought was that it was going to be too big, but it seems to be a good size. The GMT actually looked a bit small on me, and I think that the Automatic is the same size.

After all was said and done, I came home with the Superocean, and I can't stop looking at it. It's a gorgeous watch! Some of the threads I read through recommended the Superocean over the GMT and/or the Automatic, and I have to say that you were right.

Thanks everyone!

I'm really happy with it so far. I've been wanting one for about 10 years, so I'm glad I finally was able to get one. It's a good club to be in!

Congrats! Being a recent purchaser looking at the same watches, I understand the dilemma. I went with the Colt Auto based on the batons. At the end of the day, it comes down to aesthetic preference. Enjoy!

I've had one for a year and I wouldn't change it for anything (though I'd love a Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea too!)

I changed the strap to a black rubber one, which looks really good with the black dial.

Enjoy.

Good move!! Its just such a versatile watch. Looks great on leather, rubber and the ProII bracelet 8)

There are other fine divers out there that just can't pull that versatility off

I just got mine about a month ago (silver dial, Professional bracelet) and still can"t stop staring at it! I'd mostly worn a Rolex for the past 30 years (since college) and was so ready for something cool and unique. The SOS definitely fits the bill! Congrats and welcome to the club!
