Hi All,

Quick question. Set the date on my Colt II Auto to the 12th yesterday around 3pm. Woke up this morning & on the way to work noted that it still said the 12th. Set it to the 13th at 7am.

I would assume it should have changed in the late evening/wee hours of the morning.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

It was on the first 12 hours of the date. Thats my initial thought at least.

Wait after reading it that wouldnt make sense. Not sure now. Sorry.

When you used the quick set to change the date after noon, the watch "thought" it was now AM, is the simplest way to put it. So it wouldn't have changed dates until noon today. Having set it to today's date at 7 AM, you are back on track.

I always just set the date for the day before, and then forward the time. Just my habit and that way I don't have to think about complex issues like - AM and PM. I much prefer just contemplating the proverbial naval lint.

In my ever increasing quest to be lazy, I dont even do that anymore. I rotate the date until its just about to start engaging the next day, and then I stop and push the crown in. Instant PM. :cheer:

That would have worked too RJRJRJ.

The truth is, I didn't want to mess with it and hurt it. Would prefer some good instructions/information to make sure I don't do anything wrong.

I might be too particular, but this is the only Ling I have, and probably will ever have. Better take good care of it!

Basically, you dont want to mess with the date if the date change mechanism is engaged. Even though the date may show the current day, the mechanism actually can start engaging as early as 8 or 9 pm and stay engaged after the date has changed over as far as 2 or 3 am. So, dont touch the date wheel or wind the time backward between 8pm and 3am or you risk damage. Winding the time (hour/minute hands, crown fully pulled out) forward is okay at any time, even if the date wheel is engaged since you are essentially just fast forwarding time, which is fast forwarding the date.

thomasenlow1,

Believe me, it is not by choice. I changed careers to something I enjoy after the economy turned south, now working for essentially a startup. I would love more :lingsrock: , but $$$ is not there. Not to mention my wife is staying home now and wants to have kids, took me a couple years just to get the one I have now! Wanted to go SA white face w/ Batons, that was the one I really fell in love with, but like I said, $$$ not there!

Thanks RJRJRJ, much appreciated.

I hope that did not come across as rude or another less than flattering way

It was more of an observation about the addictive nature of this hobby/interest we have.

No not at all, I totally understood. I've already got a SA w/ Tungsten or White & Baton dial on my wish list in the unlikely event I can find one and bribe my wife into it down the road sometime. Then just maybe a B01 :) She said after the kids, whom we have none, move out lol!
