The Breitling Watch Source Forums

Hi all. This is my first time on the board and I learned that people are making fake vintage Breitlings. I just bought this on eBay can anyone tell me is it's legit or if I should stay away?

It's a fake, sorry.

General rule of thumb, never, ever, ever, buy a vintage Breitling from South America.

Anything in particular that stands out? I have not made payment yet so I'm good but I want to be sure.

Look at the caseback, you can see that the Breitling stamp is unrefined, the same thing goes for the movement. There's also no model or reference numbers on the caseback. In contrast the dial looks brand new - because it is. Someone has stamped the dial when the watch was being assembled and decided that the would make this watch a Breitling. On another day they may have stamped another brand on it.

Well stay away from South American watches, and ask here before committing to anything else - we'll set you straight and there are some nice watches out there.

Ive picked up all of my stuff from Ebay... just make sure as mentioned before to steer clear from watches coming from South America... that's like a rule etched in stone here in the vintage forum... 99% of the time they're all bad...
