So my Panerai dealer messed up - they promised me the new 321 when it comes in, but they have a 320 in the store right now. She's willing to give me a slight discount because of a previous order that they messed up, but I'm conflicted. I actually kind of like the Power Reserve Indicator on the front - but I read comments that some folks think it's unecessary or makes the face look too cluttered.

What are your thoughts?

BTW - I would have posted this on Panerasource, but it's like a ghost town over there :(

I think Panerai is most revered for its simplicity. Normally, I dont mind a cluttered dial, but ive always thought that the PR on pams looks out of place, like they just added it at the last minute. On the other hand, the only time ive seen a PR on the back of a watch it when the front just has way too many things going on. As anyone who owns a display back can tell you, the allure of looking at the backside wears off after a while, so having the PR there is sort of odd. It sounds like you want it on front, so I think thats what you should wait for.

I have always wanted a watch with a power reserve indicator on it but with PAM's I like them with out. Just my 2 cents.

I logged in to paneraisource the other day, I hadnt visited for about a year I think and I swear I only missed about 15 threads. I think other pam forums (paneristi.com) get all the attention.

I don't think there is any "practical" reason for me to have it on the front...it's not like I'm going into the jungle or on a boat for a month. I like watches that I can rough up, but it's not like I'll be taking it to no-man's land for such an extended period of time that I need to know how much power is left in reserve. I mean, I can just wind the watch every day, right?

I know I'm talking out loud here - I'm just trying to figure out why I'm so fascinated with the front PRI

Power Reserve Indicator - sorry - did I make that up?

And when it rains, it pours. The dealer just called and is now giving me a choice between the 320 or the 358!!! She'll even throw in a vintage strap for the 358!!!!

I swear I am going to die trying to buy a Panerai

I know that PAM's are supposed to be simple, but I kinda like the "PRI" :poke: on the dial. But then again I also like the 114 with the white dial so maybe I'm just weird.

I personally won't mind it either way. Its a matter of personal preference I think. However, between the two, my personal choice would be the 321.

I know :( and that's why its so hard to start a forum.. no one wants to post because is so quiet, so it takes FOREVER to ever build one up.

Admin, why not annex it to this forum?

I know it says "Breitling" but plenty of WISses (is that a word?) here that own and appreciate many other brands.

If you do this around end of the year, Roff can also moderate the Panerai section as I'm sure Mrs. Roff will want to post her new Sub... right?

I really like the straight PR indicators on the original Manifattura models (the 270, 233, etc), but I've also grown to just love the simplicity of the 312 and 320. The 321 does indeed look a little cluttered to me.

The only Panerai I can think of with a PR indicator on the back behind the DB is the pretty rare JLC powered PAM 190. Very cool watch that.

i generally like the PR on the front...but unlike driver when i had the 233 i hated the straight PR fang. i prefer panerai put the PR on the back (and while we're at it no more cyclops...2 things that killed the 268).

I know what PRI meant, what I was asking was about the..on the back part? They put them on the back of watches?

Do you have a link to the 358?

I like the 114 also! Actually if i ever got a PAM I would probably end up with a white dial. Not sure which model but one with a white dial.

I hate the straight PR indicators. To each their own. Do you have a link to the PAM 190? Nevermind..Found a pic.

I feel like the excitement of this would wear off quickly. Def a cool thing though.
