I'm going to take everyone's advice and try to contact George from Govberg tomorrow...However just to let everyone know I tried calling the Torneau in Columbus Circle in Manhattan and even over the phone the sales person said that she would take 10% off....So maybe it could just be the Torneau in Garden City

Some of them will discount as youve discovered, but generally speaking, Tourneau is very tight with the discounts.

I think the name of the AD's giving discounts should be removed.

ok so here is my situation. I originally went into Torneau and placed the order for the watch...They did not want any down payment, they said they would contact me when the watch arrived. However I followed everyone's advice and decided to give George a call. He offered me a significant discount compared to Torneau's asking price. My question is, does Torneau charge a fee for canceling an order? No money was left as a deposit

I negotiate deals at work all the time and am pretty familiar with how the game works. That being said, I couldn’t even get 1 dollar knocked off at a Tourneau in the Boston area. It’s not you, it’s them. It actually defies logic, because you would think their prices would be lower with their sales volume and purchasing power.

I agree with the others, skipping out on sales tax is an underrated savings tool, particularly in bankrupt states like mine where the tax is about 10%. You don’t get the experience of walking out of the store with the watch, but carefully opening the package has a certain “6 year old at Christmas” feel that adults don’t get very often.

Either way, the Evo is an absolute classic. Don’t let whatever you paid distract you from an amazing watch…..

If they didn't require a deposit, then they shouldn't charge you to cancel the order.

No damages, no recourse. They will sell the watch sooner or later so what is the foul other than one more watch, Breitling's most popular model, in inventory. If they contact you tell them to pound salt!

I second shark's comment above. Tell them an extremely better deal was had! Dont by any means tell them where though. I have heard of Tourneau reporting other AD's of the brands they carry. That being said they cant force you to pay anything if they dont have any of your payment info. I guess they could try and file a lawsuit but trust me they wont.

OK maybe I'm dumb, but how could they sue you? If you didn't pay any deposit then presumably you never signed any agreement, there was never offer and acceptance (or at least it's a he said / he said).

They won't sue because they can't prove damages. But from a purely hypothetical view, they could claim detrimental reliance on a verbal offer to buy the watch - that is, they ordered and bought the watch. But this is just hypothetical bullshit in this instance because their provable damages may be all of $20. Big, mutli-location AD. How much do they loose by having one measley extra watch in inventory?? Nada to $20.
