When they service your watch I know the hands are replaced, but what about the dial??

Not unless it's damaged, then they generally give you the option to change at your cost.

If you request it to be changed, and since they have the watch apart what kind of cost is that? Or does it not matter that they already have it apart?

there were some posts made a while back regarding the cost of changing the dial. from what i remember it was quite costly. i believe another member was curious in changing his dial color from one to another.

For current models it's usually around $600 for the dial change plus the cost of a full service (which you would be having done anyway). There is some anecdotal evidence that it's cheaper for discontinued models, but not cheap.

Hold on to your hats...

I have a yellow UTC module coming from the UK (thanks Alan M) for my Blue Emergency.
I contacted BUSA about changing to a blue dial and they said sure.
So, as soon as it arrives from Alan off it goes.
As for price... $US1000 for the dial change (and it's a small dial).
Such is the price of an obsession...

Excellent looks like you got a discount of about $50 - $100 for the smaller dial - I hope that you feel honoured

Huh?
That's $1000 on top of the purchase price (which wasn't cheap)...

I could get a complete SOH46 for the total price of the UTC (though I already have one of those anyway)...

Surely you could have found a blue UTC for less than $1000 + whatever you paid for the yellow one, no?

Right, but a regular dial change is around $600, plus the $450 - $500 that Breitling insists on for a full service, so closer to $1,100 rather than $1,000.

The smiley in my original post was supposed to convey sarcasm at the honoured comment.

Don't worry - no offence taken...
Well - for that price they better service it until it not only gleams but is more accurate than an atomic clock.
Mind you - they didn't mention servicing it but I guess that's just assumed.

Have you tried to obtain a UTC module recently?
Scarcer than hens teeth - especially with bracelet and end pieces.
