Got it in the afternoon!
And it really looks stunning, as a watch just out of the box!

Now i have 2 question for you Breitling maniacs

1) i have been told that i have to wind many many times to get the red date window updated and there is no shortcut for this :? , is it true?
I ask this because just a few minutes ago whil winding and winding, suddendly the crown become free in my hand; so i had to screw it back at its place

2) i have been told that when the watch will be unused for long time i could (like all automatic cal.) wind several time its crown to make it to start and run all day, far from my wrist.
Now: is it correct to wind an auto everyday if unused? and why this beauty crown after several winding became so rough in my fingers?

forgive my bad english

thanks

Lou

The watch needs a service, that's why the crown doesn't feel smooth - the mechanism isn't lubricated properly and that feeling is metal wearing against metal :!:

There is no quickset date on these so you will need to change the date with the time - I'm not sure if you can wind these back and forth around midnight to change the date, and I would be reluctant to try without knowing.

There is no risk associated with manually winding the watch every day, but there is also no risk in leaving it run down and just winding it once a month or so to keep the movement lubricated.

I'm not sure in Europe, but a service in North America will run you around $250 - $300 depending on parts needs.

Now i'll enjoy my new beauty for a short time.
After that it'll go straight back to the reseller for an absolutely FREE service.
Anyway, believe me, i'm quuite surprised because the watch look like new, out of the box.
IMHO it's only "rust", after forty years...
Now i'll write an email to the reseller

Just a note to add... as I learned from a fellow member here...

It's an automatic but it's got a micro rotor (versus the big rotors on typical autos) and that piece is very susceptible to damage over time so I (we) would recommend that you hand wind it as much as possible to prevent damage... the bad thing also is it is almost impossible to find parts for these caliber 11/12 movements so if something breaks down... :( Doesn't mean it's not a solid movement, but vintage pieces need a bit more TLC than contemporary pieces...

Enjoy the watch~!

THANKS!
do i read right?!?
I usually hand wind every day at same hour every AUTO of my small collection, and obviously every manual piece.
And now i have discovered that it's not unsafe but useful...
Correct?
