Just recieved a new Avenger that my AD ordered for me from BUSA. I love it. However, everything says Avenger Skyland. Since Breitling has dropped the Skyland name from the Avenger line, should I be concerned that I'm getting a "close-out" or last year's model?

There is no difference between the Avenger and the Avenger Skyland other than the name, and it's common for watches to sit at ADs for a while before sale.

You can check the manufacture date between the 6 o'clock lugs (remove the strap or bracelet), the first four digits are week and year of manufacture. I'm also not sure whether the manual etc were actually updated immediately.

Thanks. The AD did not have the watch in stock and ordered the watch from Breitling. They shipped an Avenger Skyland so I guess that means that BUSA still had 2009 inventory to move out? I'm not troubled by this since you say that the watch is the same. Is there any difference in value from a 2009 Avenger Skyland to a 2010 Avenger?

Well as I said you can check the manufacture date inbetween the 6 o'clock lugs so you can see exactly when it was produced.

There's no impact to value.

I have had this one since they introduced it and it isnt going any place and from what others say they are still a popular one so as long as you get a good deal on it I wouldnt worry about it.

There are also 2 other ways to determine if it is an Avenger Skyland or the newer 2010 Avenger.

1. If the numbers are white...it is an Avenger Skyland. The 2010 Avenger is almost the same finish as mirror.

2. Are the words "swiss made" at the bottom of the dial on the left and right side of 6? If so, then it is the 2010 Avenger.

Well the numbers have the mirror finish and the watch has the words "swiss made" at the bottom of the dial. Considering that it was just shipped to the AD from Breitling, I think it is the Avenger. If I can figure out how to remove the strap I'll find the date of manufacture and confirm. The only confusion came from the Avenger Skyland manual that came with the watch.

Yup, you got an Avenger then. I am seriously thinking that one of these will be my next Breitling purchase.

You have the 2010 Avenger. Mine came with the Skyland manual as well, but I have the newer version. My guess is that they want to use all the Skyland manuals they have printed. The changes that were made to the Avenger were only minor... in fact cosmetic.

Since you asked here is my new Breitling 2010 Avenger. It has a tungsten face and a black leather strap.

The Avenger's a sweet-looking watch.
