I have a Chronomat Automatic from 2000 with the 0, 15, 30, and 45 markers on the movable bezel. Trouble is, the markers are essentially little hooks that get caught in hair, sweaters, shirts, ties, etc. Any way to bend them down or otherwise tame them?

Are you referring to the rider tabs? I think if you bent them down you'd run the risk of scratching the crystal.

It's a well known feature of the windrider range, and one of the reasons that the new B01 bezel has integrated rider tabs. There's nothing that you can so - short of removing them I guess.

Feature - you don't leave something largely unchanged for 25+ years if it was a bug.

One of the original reasons for the screwed in rider tabs was to allow owners to swap the 15 and 45 tabs to create a countdown bezel if desired.

Do you really want to start bending things on a watch that's worth a couple grand? I think bending would probably effect the resale value a bit if you ever decide to sell.

These delightful little beasties are lovingly called "sweater killers" around here. I often find my bezel shifted as a result of snags from taking my lab coat on and off so often at work.

As the others have said, there's nothing that can be done about the issue aside from getting a watch without rider tabs or ones with an integrated design.

I've never had a problem with the rider tabs. If they're causing you grief, look into a watch that doesn't have them. Breitling makes plenty like that. As someone else said, I wouldn't go bending things on a several-thousand-dollar watch.

I had/have plenty of Aeromarines/Windriders with rider tabs and not once have they got caught on clothing - from silk ties to wool sweaters. Leave the tabs alone - but higher thread count clothes. :)

with mine, the riders overhang the bezel enough so you can fit your fingernail beneath them -- with the result that they are like four little fishhooks on your wrist.

I NEVER REALLY HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THEM.... WEAR A SUIT EVERY DAY TO WORK, NOT MANY SWEATERS. JUST LEAVE 'EM ALONE, AND LOVE 'EM.
