I have about a month old Bentley Motors that as most know is rated to 100m. I was rinsing the watch under the sink (in cold water, not hot) and getting it ready to dry it with a soft towel as I've been doing every few days to keep it clean when my wife walked by and said, "I hope your new watch is water proof". That got me thinking. If for some reason a gasket failed and my watch ingested water what is Breitling's stance on this? With a watch rated to 100m static pressure it should have no issue at all resisting a gentle rinse in the sink under cold/room temperature water and as such if it did ingest water it would have to be due to a defect in the watch assembly (assuming the crown was wound down correctly). In this situation I'd assume Breitling would inspect the watch, find the defect, then fix whatever damage resulted? Just curious your thoughts as I'm a new owner and have never had a watch in for service/warranty repair.

Mike

Breitling will conduct a pressure test and if the watch fails before 10 atmospheres (100 metres of static water pressure) then they will fix it under warranty. If it is good through 10 atmospheres then they will charge you for the work.

Great info Roff. Also, remember the terms phrases "water proof" and "water resistant" are two different things. No watch is "water proof."

Thanks for the reply. That makes sense. Sorry for my poor grammar on the original post. I just re-read what I wrote and am embarrassed. That's what happens when you post while "working" and don't proof read. :)
