Hi,
This watch is for sale from a local dealer. I am pretty much a starter with Breitlings so would appreciate any thoughts from the assembled knowledge in the Forum.
Thanks,

Mostly original for a 1945 788, the crown is a replacement, but that's not that big a deal.

The bridge engraving looks OK, although I would like to see a better picture, especially on an early piece like this where original bridges are often blank (which encourages people to add the engraving).

Thanks for the quick reply. I have uploaded a higher quality .jpg of the mechanism, which may show the bridge a little more clearly.

Yeah, I think it's OK - but wouldn't risk my house on it

I believe the crown is supposed to be not signed...and a bit flatter than the B crown but yeah... nothing too big of a deal...

on the flip side it's signed...

Thanks for the informed comments and views - gives me confidence to proceed. The final biggie question though - what is a reasonable retail price for such a piece, given the dealer needs to make a profit?

In the current market I wouldn't pay more than $2,000 from a dealer unless it had had a recent service which would push the price to maybe $2,200. I would be hoping to get it nearer to $1,500 but that's likely unrealistic.
