Do you find the compass bezel any functional or prettier than the usual minute bezel ?

Would like to know what you think of it.. 8)

(as an example, the Blackbird):

Personally, I like the look of it on certain watches. Adds a lot more "tool watch" feel IMO. A B1 or an Emergency just wouldn't look legitimate enough with a normal minute bezel.

As far as the functionality is concerned, here is a nice summary of how these are used. Not sure I'd ever use it for this purpose but hey!

I think the countdown bezel is the most useful for aviators.

Set time to next way point and you should be turning when it gets to zero.

I see the compass bezel as pure decoration with no practical day to day use.

I've never understood compass bezels. Yeah, you can do the sun-watch-compass thing, but that's only an approximation. If you actually go out and do that, it's a +/- 20 degrees sort of thing. You won't be able to use a compass bezel to reliably plot a 310-degree azimuth and go marching off confidently into the wilderness.

The compass bezel is one of the most important thing why I don't buy the BB.
I find the count-up minutely bezel the most useful, I use it daily. Almost all of my watches have such a bezel.
Best, Robert
