After a wait of around 5 months (during which time I even forgot I'd asked for one!) a copy of the current Breguet catalogue finally arrived on my doorstep today.

It's another one of those catalogues like IWC's that gives a great insight into both the company and the manufacturing process, as well as giving some great pictures of their current collection. Annoyingly they haven't got the Type XXII in there whch is a real shame, but nonetheless it's a great book.

While there are some astonishing complications on display, the real standout for me in terms of one that I'd actually wear is one of the Marine models. This one in fact - http://www.buygoodwatches.com/i-BR2024/ ... 2-5zv.html - but unfortunately the cost is a little... err......... prohibitive for me! List is £28,400 GBP. :?

Just on the subject of cost, the price list that comes with the catalogue is enough to make you fall off your chair. With the exception of one steel Marine model, and the Type XX and Type XXI models there is not a single thing in the catalogue that's under 5 figures GBP. There are a vast number of models in £100,000 to £200,000 GBP range, but it's really once you start adding precious stones into the mix that the prices really take off. The most expensive piece in the collection is a 33mm x 24.95mm ladies watch that, due to it's circa 50cts of diamonds and sapphires, comes in at a staggering £409,800 GBP. I should also point out there a number listed at "price on application" so your guess is as good as mine.

But unaffordability aside, it's a great read and nice a catalogue.

I have that catalogue. I liked the section where they show a pocket watch that was finished for some count in like, 1830, then several watches you can buy that look very much like it.

This is one brand where the affordable (ish) models are actuially some of hte most attractive in my opinion. The marine and the Type series watches are incredible, and Driver8 I can't criticise your taste on the Marine Alarm - it's an incredible watch.

I agree Driver, a great catalogue although mine fortuntely did not take 5 months to arrive

The prices are indeed scary on most of the range but some lovely models indeed.

On an aside to get an A Lange and Sohn catalogue I had to request on 3 different occasions and then it took several weeks to arrrive. Funny.
