I bought a "Long-Playing" Model 815 when I was 15yrs old. Still have it (pictures on this forum) - and still the most beautiful Breitling I ever wished for, from then to this day. My 2nd (and probably my last) Breitling was an SOHC/mesh for my 50th. So when I kick the bucket, at least my sons both get one!

I just ordered the Avenger Seawolf Chrono Blacksteel as my first Breitling timepeice, the start of my collection. I am 23 years old and my friends, family, girlfriend and pretty much everyone I know thinks I am crazy for spending that kind of money on a watch. Obviously I disagree!! Not only have I always wanted a Breitling, but over the past year I have become quite successful and the watch symbolizes this time in my life.
Anyways, I was just wondering how old were you when you purchased your first luxury timepiece and what was the motivating factor behind it?

67 yrs DEC 31 2009.....after waiting for 53 years.............my super avenger has already been back once to BUK and i got satisfactory service some moisture had gathered under the crystal
The seals were diagnosed as faulty.......the repair was done under warranty with ho problems.
My first and only Breitling after waiting all that time,... my choice :lingsrock: will stay with me.

40 - my girlfriend at the time said it was "time to buy a grownup watch."

Now she only has herself to blame as my watch fetish continues to fester and I await my first Panerai

32.

Two days ago, I walked into Tourneau with the intention of buying a Rolex Submariner. I've wanted one forever. I tried it on my wrist and was less than thrilled. I then took a look at a few Omega Speedmaster's. While trying on the Speedmaster a beautiful black dial and shiny wire mesh caught my eye. I went over to the case and peered in at the Breitling Superocean on wire mesh bracelet. I've never once considered owning a Breitling. It was gorgeous. The lady who had been assisting me said, "Good choice. I "really" like these." My first thought was, "This is going to cost more than the Rolex." It looked better than the Submariner..it was bigger..heavier..had fantastic wrist presence...but no, it was quite a bit less. I couldn't believe it. I knew I had found my first "big boy" watch, and it wasn't a Rolex. I told the lady to wrap it up. It hasn't left my wrist since.
