Ok so a while back i posted that my motors t was not getting a full 42 hour reserve on a full windup of 40 turns of the crown. This was a little concerning to me so i have ran the test multiple times and had some varied results. The times that i spun the crown 40 times, which were full 360 degree turns gauged by the position of the little B. I could only get 35-36 hours of power if i let my watch sit flat on the counter. Since the manual said i should be getting 42 hours i decided to call BUSA and get to the bottom of this. I was lucky enough to talk to a tech named ALEX and he asked me to run the test one more time but this time to give the crown 5-10 extra spins, and true enough the watch has run the 42 hours plus.

I dont really know what to make of this except asking other members if they want to participate in testing of their watches. i thought it might be a good post for new members or just other people cruising the boards.

If you guys are interested in participating lets lay out the test in the following manner.

1) post the name of your watch and the movement it uses with power reserve

2) wind the watch 40 full turns watching the little b go 360 degrees to ensure one full spin

3) let the watch sit flat on the counter face up and let it run

4) report what the results are

40 turns is just a rough estimate. If your watch doesnt get full power out of that its not a defect. Something is only wrong if you cant get a full power reserve no matter how many times you wind it, within reason, of course.

I ran my Colt GMT down a few weeks ago while I was on vacation and it ran for 44 hours sitting in my watch box.

I tested my Colt GMT about a month ago (caliber 32; ETA 2893-2).

Fully wound, then put in it's original box (at a noticeable angle, not flat) : 42 hours, 13 minutes.

The last power reserve "test" I did was when I was minding my mate's B01 the other month. I just looked back through the thread on here for the timings, and it ran for a little over 74 hours on a full wind.

I did this this week randomly, I think something Roff said made me do it.

SOH - 42 hours 31 min (did'nt track seconds)

i couldnt really find any other thread like this on here. and when i searched for this stuff on google there was not really anything except for manufacturer specs. I just figured that some new members or people searching through google would find this interesting.

Yea, but I think my Datora is broken, it died after 12hrs with 40x wound. Great. And my warranty expired 2 months ago.

hmmm...that does sound like an issue. quick question....did you wind the watch and then let it sit flat before it died? or did you wind the watch wear it and then it died 12 hours after it left your wrist?

Ya, I basically wore it for 7-8hrs after that I flat it down the rest until it hit 12hr stop.

yeah...time to go back to the AD. You could give it one last trail though just to make sure. i know the manual says 40 turns of the crown but try doing 50-60 spins it wont hurt the watch. but make sure that you watch the little b on the crown spin a full 360 degrees to ensure one full spin. once you have done this let the watch sit flat on your dresser or table top and let it run. if the watch runs for 42 hours then everything is ok.
