Hi guyz, just looking for a bit of help here.

I've been hanckering over a panerai now for a while, today I was out window shopping when I stumbled across Watches of Switzerland in Glasgow. They seemed to have a great collection and there were 3 that took my eye. The 000, 112 and possibly a 104, can't remember!

Anyway the assistant was very helpful but did say they won't give discount on any models but they do do interest free credit which appealed to me straight away as I've just bought a Legende and don't quite fancy shelling out another 3 odd grand on another watch but I want one!

The 112 really took my fancy and it was priced at £3100, the assistant said that there would be a full 2 yr warranty from Panerai so what do you guyz think, should I be asking anymore questions or is there anything you can tell me to add to the above?

Loved the look of these watches but I only have a couple of days to decide so any advice is much appreciated cheers.

Cheers

I like the 112 but prefer the 111, because I would want to see something moving on the dial. Other than the small seconds dial, the 111 and 112 are identical. Downside on either might be the manual wind aspect but that's your decision. Personally it wouldn't bother me that much and the 111 is on my short list. Although I will admit that the 312 is looking more and more like the right one for me. auto, manufacture, second dial, and date! Oh my!

The 000 has the painted dial and a solid caseback. The 112 has a sandwich dial and a display back. The 104 has the painted dial (I think), solid back and is an automatic. The 000, 111, and 112 are all mechanical with a 56 hour power reserve. Last time I ran my 112 down, it was about 58 hours. I don't know what other questions you should ask the AD. I'll agree with Bronco though and just pay more and got for the 312. If you go with the 000 or 112, buy a brown gator and a black gator and you'll be set on straps.

Another vote for spending the extra (if you can afford it of course) and go for the 312.

Okay thanks for that I had a good look at all three and understand the differences, not sure if he has the 312 which looks really nice, any idea price wise for the 312?

I really like the simple, clean look of the 000 and the 112 such a difference from the watches I currently have.

If they weren't doing interest free I probably wouldn't be buying another watch just now but it seems like such a good chance to get a really beautiful watch.

Do you think buying from Watches of Switzerland has any disadvantages over another AD? I know some people on here wouldn't go anywhere near them but they seemed utterly professional to me.

Cheers

Of the choices you mentioned, I'd say the 000 which is just about the most representative of the brand, not to mention an amazing bang for buck (as far as Pams are concerned).

As they say, Zero Hero! :)

Ok so I've been doing a bit of research and found price lists!

312 is £4500, I like it but can't find it in the Panerai catalogue, does it come with two straps like the 000 and 112?

I still like the look of the 112, I've tried looking at both together to check the cases which look a tiny bit different but both seem to be 44mm :?:

I'll have to phone tommorrow but I don't know if the boy can get hold of a 312 or not, I'm still not to certain so I'll have to have a think over the weekend.

I quite liked the Panerai logo on the 000 but having the skeleton back on the 112 has over-ruled the 000 in my mind. The fact that the 312 has the small date rather than the magnifier definently works in its favour for me too. Just a pity he didn't have a 312 there at the time. I've seen the 2 for sale here recently and really liked it but at the time didn't want to pay the lump sum!

Choices, choices!!!

Cheers

312 is very different from 112...auto, date, small second, 1950 case, a bit thicker. 112 is a simple handwound base. i love the logo and would go either the 000 or the 312.

312>111>000>112. the 000 is the preferred base over the 112 imo.

The 112 is a great watch but I couldn't do without a seconds hand, so I went for the 111. I like the 312 a lot, in fact at the moment I'm considering trading up for one. If you can stretch to the 312 I'd say go for it.

And in answer to one of your questions, yes the 312 comes with two straps: black croc and rubber.

Hi Andrew,

A while back I was in the market for a Panerai.

I tried them all: Luminors, Radiomirs, Submersibles.

I decided upon the 312. I prefer the 1950s styled case over the slab sided version.

I liked the fact that it had the new in-house movement with 3 day power reserve and quick hour change function. The 312 also has the new quick strap change function, which is a great help as I was an habitual strap changer. The exhibition case back was a nice addition for a 500m water resistant watch. I also liked the clean look of the dial. Overall a very nicely finished and detailed tool watch.

The whole Panerai packaging just screams class and high end to me. I loved it but when I was offered the same money for it that I bought it for, when I had another bargain lined up, I sold it. I would definitely like another one in the future. I really like the new version in titanium with the slightly different numbers and gold hands.

BTW, I went to Berry's of Nottingham for my 312. They gave me 5% off as a first time customer. I may have been able to get a better deal but I was also trading something in at the same time. Also, I had to wait 2 months for it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the replies chaps and thanks for that pic Ricardo I love it!

I'm going to phone today and ask about the 312 if they have it I'll get it, if they don't I'll go for the 112!

Cheers

Well totally changed my mind! I've decided to go for the 000 and have paid the deposit. I'll be on the mainland in 7 weeks time to pick it up and if they have a 312 which they think should be in around then I'll try it on and see what I think. The AD has told me that my deposit will be transferable if I want to change so that's that!! :D

I decided to go with the 000 purely because of the logo, I know the 112 has the open caseback but as most of you know the dynamics and parts of a watch are not really why I buy them, more the look of the watch and I love that logo on the face. If I try the 312 and like it I will probably go for it but at the mo I think I need to try it on and have a look before making the decision.

Cheers for all the input, pics up in a few weeks! :D

Congrats on your upcoming PAM. At first I didn't like PAM's at all, but after spending some time on their website I've started thinking about them more and more. The 000 and 005 are two of my favorites, just a classic design.
