Took the Rolex Deep Sea back today in exchange for the GMT Master IIc in black. As uncomfortable as the Deep Sea was, the GMT is comfortable - extremely. And even though it's 40mm, the black ceramic bezel on the black dial and the redesigned, slightly longer case make it look much larger. And now that the links are solid it doesn't feel like wearing tin foil as other Rolexes I've tried.

And left with black dial Seawolf to boot, since the DS is about $2300 more than the GMT Master IIc.

Funny how everything always has a way of working out better than we plan. Glad I didn't take the SDDS on holiday for 5 days - it would have driven me nuts.

Thanks to all who addressed the issue I was having with the Deep Sea bracelet. Very helpful fellas.

Seawolf and GMTIIC, is the Fifty Fathoms or Breguet all that is left?

Yes, please God let the answer be "yes!" Just have to decide whether chrono or not. Leaning toward the cleaner look of the non-chrono. But that won't be for a couple months.

And I really think the Seawolf proves the point that there is a real design flaw in the Deep Sea bracelet. Bigger and equally heavy case but with a rationally proportioned bracelet and it not only looks better, it wears better when the eye is directed elswhere. There are principles of physics, geometry, etc.. involved here so this is giving me a headache.

Id take those two over a deep sea in a heartbeat. Youve got the deep sea Breitling equivalent, and a GMT IIc on top of it! Isnt it odd how much larger the GMT wears than the size suggests? Every time I try one on im stunned at how well it wears considering its diminutive dimensions.

Congrats.

Nice trade! I also love the "oh well, the money is already gone. I might as well get another watch...it's like it's free." vs the cash refund. Haha we have a lot in common, next time i'm in AZ we are going out for a beer.

OH THE HORRORS! You had to trade in the SDDS for a GMT IIc AND a Seawolf!

Those are two seriously nice pieces on my wow-I-wish-I-could-afford-that list. Congratulations.

Congrats sharkman, I really think you won't regret that choice. The GMT IIC is just a great watch, very hard to find fault with it. A bit shiny for some Rolex purists, perhaps, but I doubt that will bother anyone here.

Yeah when I first saw the ceremic bezel on the SDDS I thought there was plastic on it. But it's a nice look. I really likeit and the whole experinece got me off the Seawolf fence and that's a big plus too.

Good effort sharkman, you don't disappoint. No doubt your 'bonus' watch made up for some initial disappointment. Looking forward to seeing some pics. How about a group shot, I love your collection, just so much variety.

Oh my no, I can't live up to that. Besides mfserg is doing the same stuff as me - just being less "splashy" about the whole thing. Have to run or will miss my flight. To all my U.S. BS memebers - happy 4th.

Ok...I'll come clean (that's what she said) and share my recent purchases. I've decided to change my collection a bit; I have too much duplicity....if that's even a word. No need for two blackbird and two worlds, I can survive with just one of each right? SOOOooo bye bye they go and I've gotten an Omega Planet Ocean Olympic Model and a Rolli 50th Anv Sub...just waiting for them both to arrive!! NOW I gotta list the Black World :( sad day!
